So quit whining and do itI judge you on your ability to operate a forklift and count. Not your morals, ethics, or character.
Because I wanna GTF outta here.

That's not how FOB freight transportation works.Just cut me free when my trailer is empty and let me be on my way. I can't change anything by staying here while you count and repalletize this load.
That's way different from how my FOB works. With mine, you press a button and it unlocks the doors. Press another button and it locks them. That's not how FOB freight transportation works.
When the receiver signs for receipt of the BOL, they are legally agreeing that the packing list is accurate, and all the goods are there. Unless there is an agreement in the shipping contract to adjust counts after the fact (subject to count,) they're done.
It also protects you. Most drivers are totally negligent over getting seals signed for. If there's an undercount, you still have the legal remedy of inspecting the goods on the dock. Once you leave, you're done. If the receiver walks off with a case of something expensive, you (or your insurance) are responsible for it.
I hate to anger anyone but that's hilarious. That's way different from how my FOB works. With mine, you press a button and it unlocks the doors. Press another button and it locks them.
I understand that responsibility must be assigned to us and the reciever. But... If a shipper places a seal on my trailer, said trailer seal is intact at the reciever, receiver inspects the seal, I'm done. There's easier ways to do things that places like Walmart are simply stubbornly overlooking. My last load to them was about 40k lbs of pumpkins. They had a seal, a pallet count, and a single line item on the BOL. It's absolutely ridiculous that I sat in that dock for five hours. I brought you your crap, everything is good, why am I still here? I gave myself plenty of breathing room for picking up my next load and it still was a little tight. I waited for about two hours after my light turned green to go inside and figure out why I'm still there. I was told that the count was good, the load was good, just waiting for those dolts to get the paperwork to the receiving counter. Now, all my complaining aside let's be real. There's no good reason for that scenario. I might have understood if we were talking about a high risk load. Pumpkins, man. Crimany. That's not how FOB freight transportation works.

Which helps offset a little, but it doesn't help your business at all. That's why there's detention.
I hear you. However, the $50/ hour they pay me (if I even get it) isn't worth the next $1000 day run I had lined up afterwards. There is absolutely no guarantee I'll even see that money, and now I have to play catch up to grab something off the board and replace what I lost. But it never comes out in my favor, there's always a loss to be paid. That's why there's detention.
No one's arguing this @Mike. It's a distasteful part of the job. As you say... no more Walmart if it bothers you.I hear you. Numbing effect of snow since Sunday.Explains everything.

I see none of this garbage running flatbed/open deckWhich helps offset a little, but it doesn't help your business at all.
Getting delayed to the point that you have to cancel on a customer (the next broker) does nothing but potentially hurt your business name.
It's better to make a point of avoiding problem shippers/receivers.
Fantastic point, 10 thumbs up. Rep is everything out here, especially if you've got your own authority.Getting delayed to the point that you have to cancel on a customer (the next broker) does nothing but potentially hurt your business name.
Gee, I bet at least a few americolds are on that list! They used to make Walmart look positively efficient!
I'd love so much to get some shirts made with that quote. I love it.Because I wanna GTF outta here.

I'ma make like a protest sign with that on it and carry it around in circles outside their shipping door.I'd love so much to get some shirts made with that quote. I love it.
Me: "I'm in dock 7, any idea on progress? I've been here for two hours and haven't felt my truck move in a while."
Shipping/receiving person: "we haven't called you yet, why are you in here?"
Me: "Read the shirt"
