I-40 CLOSED

Well if you're planning on heading east into NC on I-40 better find a new route. The interstate is washed out in the gorge and closed indefinitely.

Is this that section where trucks are strictly limited to the right lane?

I recall it being closed for long periods of time in the past because of rock slides.

Yes, it has been closed multiple times due to rock slides because NC won't blast the mountain back from the road like Tennessee.

Electronic billboards in VA advising motorists to not travel to NC or TN.

Saw hundreds of utility trucks forging south towards the zone to assist. I think I saw Canada plates on some.

Not to sound like a vulture or anything but there's a FEMA warehouse about 5 miles from me and I feel like I need to figure out how to get in on that. It's mostly CAT generators preloaded on flatbeds.

Landstar usually has some of that biz.

Get in on it. But be ready to be waiting long times. FEMA does nothing quick.
