Comfort Pro you get at carrier uses a Kubota 2-cyl diesel.

Thermoking tripac uses a yanmar 2-cyl diesel.

Comfortpro is based on a 6kw generator head and a heating / cooling unit.

Tripac is based on an 1800 watt inverter. The engine runs a 12 v alternator and an a/c compressor. Same as in a car. So it's a 2- cylinder version of the big engine.

One "pro" I've learned of the tripac.

Shops freak out when I roll in to get the AC serviced. "We can't work on that, it's a semi truck......" I'll talk to a service manager and show him what he system really is, and suddenly we are hooking up a charging station to it and going to work. Suck it down, put 2 lbs freon back in, we are good to go.

Small diesels are expensive. $2k plus. Enjoy shopping.

A buddy of mine told me recently that Kubota now has a 3 cylinder engine with more power and not that much more expensive than the 2 cyl. I'll be checking into them. Thanks for the info.

Or... you can get a bunk heater, a gas fired generator like a Honda and an RV airconditioner. A lot of folks whip something up from that.

Only if you're a loser - that's a window air conditioner you loon. Go check out a big RV dealer. Those white, streamlined units you see on top of $500,000 top of the line RVs are what I'm talking about. They're not that expensive, and the could freeze the ass of a well digger in hades.

Google "RV supply store" and plenty will pop up. You want to look under heating and cooling products.

IIRC, Atwood makes a unit that could be mounted vertically on the back wall of a sleeper. They also make ducting and diffusers so that it wouldn't look like a car hauler butcher job. LOL!

They don't work. That's why they have at least 4 on top. I had one for a few months and it ended up in the trash.

I've got a Duo therm that's several years old on my spreader and it works alright.
It's marginal going down the road if your truck a/c goes out but the window unit in my FLC was completely useless going down the road.
I wouldn't do another one because a window unit can be sized more specifically to your needs for less money.

One reason the high end RV's have so many units is for zone cooling.
Not everyone likes it below zero when they sleep.

that might be why they use a 30 hp engine instead of a 2 hp compressor even though the airflow is working with instead of against.
