at NEMF, we didn't have any place to put the dolly air lines, other than onto the deck of it...the only thing i caught her doing, was attaching the tail lines out of order...What I’m wonderin about is why put the air lines on the dolly to back it under the tail
They should roll free. Ours do anyway. I usually back the dolly under and then do all the connections
Does the order actually matter? I only do it based on not reaching over the others and getting dirtier than necessary.at NEMF, we didn't have any place to put the dolly air lines, other than onto the deck of it...the only thing i caught her doing, was attaching the tail lines out of order...
should have been, service, pigtail, e-brakes, just like the lead.
if any tractor i had, did not have a pintle hook, a yardman had to spot the dolly for me.
i always did it this when when hooking up...., blue, pig tail, red...that way you work your way out, ............then disconnecting, red, pig tail, last blue...Does the order actually matter? I only do it based on not reaching over the others and getting dirtier than necessary.
Reckon I dont work with real truckers then. Our line haul guys get that shit everywhereavoiding getting greased is a big part of being a real trucker.
You'd have a fit dealing with any trailers with hydraulics.avoiding getting greased is a big part of being a real trucker.
I can barely back a 53 even after all this time. It's still dumb luck.In the video she shows a trailer dropped a bit high. It was probably dropped a bit high because it was backed in as a set. the dolly fifth wheel sits a bit higher than a truck fifth wheel would.
When I used to run doubles for a switch I would get back in the wee hours of the morning. No one was around so I would back the pup into a dock as a set. it took a while at first but, you get better the more you do it. No one was around so I had all the time in the world, and no one was there to laugh at me.

My dad always said the same thing. If you're pulling doubles don't bother using your mirrors unless you're turning. My first time pulling doubles the boss called me on the radio and said there is two there do you think you can hook them up? (if not they would send another truck)
I said, I'll give it a try.
Hey boss, I got them hooked up.
Do you think you can bring them both back?
I'll give it a try.
Another driver that was experienced with doubles said on the radio, Just fold in your mirrors and don't look back.
I got them near the yard and the boss says, do you think you can back them into the yard?
Nope! I don't think I can do that.
Ok, just drop them on the side street.
OH, thank God! whweew.
Good advice! My dad always said the same thing. If you're pulling doubles don't bother using your mirrors unless you're turning.

The trailers at the doors look okay to back between. But those out in the lot are awful tight. At our regular customer there's a parking area on a hill that we never use. Only jockeys go up there. It's a single driveway access, an L shape of parking spaces, and then when it's busy the rest is a free for all.
Guard sent me up there with a delivery so I was like whoa must be packed. I hit the row below the hill and reversed up in only to find there was more than enough room for me to do a traditional sight side because they only just started using it.

Hauling a heavy car on a short trailer is the same. Never look at the car, because it is wiggling all over and bouncing up and down. Just drive, you'll know if you lose it.My dad always said the same thing. If you're pulling doubles don't bother using your mirrors unless you're turning.
