High fat / low carb diet

Has anyone else out there experimented with this? I have had great success in losing weight as well as several others around me. Hunger urges were not nearly what I thought they would be too. I'm down 30 lbs!
The Atkins diet was built on this premise. However, the high fat portion is not recommended by many health experts. The low carb is great. so to satiate we recommend GOOD fats such as avocado, nuts etc

wife has been having issues with mid-morning shakes and it's been even worse with the on-set of Type II diabetes.

Visited with the doctor last week and he suggested that she start eating Kashi Go-Lean cereal for breakfast. What we learned is that the protein in this cereal is helping her get through the morning. Why? It's got 4-5 TIMES the amount of protein in it than any other cereals. So this week while we were grocery shopping, I decided to start reading labels.

It's been that way more and more.

I must say, I am sadly impressed with our food industry. They serve us nothing but crap. All Carbs, sugar and non-nutritional ingredients.

The Atkins diet went off the rails because it also turned into high protein.

I'm started trying to get myself back into better overall health this year by going to a high fat diet.

Actually, not really high, but focusing on doubling my fat to protein ratio, and cutting carbs way down. Basically, a Ketogenic diet, though I don't focus on whether I am in ketosis or not.

As you said, good fats. Also with carbs, only good carbs. Take away the carbs I get that are fiber, and my carb intake is around 20-40.

To take this to another level, also working hard on making sure the foods I do eat not only fit this high fat, moderate protein, and low cab plan, I also focus on eating foods that provide all the essential vitamins and minerals we need everyday. The last part is the hardest part, but that part is tough for any diet.

BLECH!!

That sounds good. I need to cut the carbs too. they are so dangerous :)
I find it interesting that, according to "nutritional experts," grains and starches should make up the bulk of our diet. For half a century at least, we have been told meats, fats and dairy should be consumed sparingly, but eat lots of vegetables (not a bad idea) and grains (boo!) Meanwhile, we keep getting fatter and fatter, diabetes rates are skyrocketing and auto-immune disorders are on the rise.

I eat what my body tells me I'm hungry for. You can't substitute a handful of nuts or an avacado for a big, juicy ribeye and feel satisfied.
