Can't they get a spotter truck and throw a tag on it? That's what places with multiple locations near each other do here.I am not just in a yard the plant is spread out between several buildings and docks and not all on the same street.
I wish it was just a yard and then I could have a proper yard truck and not a regular day cab where I have to crank dolly legs 66 times a day.

They could but we would still have to crank the dolly legs because you can't be on the street with the fifth wheel raised, it puts you over height, plus there is a bridge we have to go under. So it is cheaper just to use some old city day cab.

It's not like you're cranking up a loaded trailer unless you really Swift it up though, right? And aren't you using high gear 99 percent of the time?

I do it like, 12-20 times a day and it does get old after a while even when it's easy. I think it's the repetition moreso than the task itself.

Yeah we drop them with the gear about a half inch off the ground so we don't have to break our balls
In the morning it is a bit of a struggle because I can't convince the afternoon guy to drop them low. His worry is that he will damage the gear.
My explanation to him was, We can always get new landing gear, I can not get a new set of nuts!
