The best self defense is not having to defend yourself at all.

• Stay out of bad situations as often as possible.
• Stay visible, bad people lurk in hidden areas.
• Walk with purpose and make eye contact. If a person knows you see them, they know the element of surprise is gone. Making eye contact and not showing fear also takes much of the victim factor away from you. Always remember an attacker is going to look for the weakest prey. Stand strong and act strong.
• Act quickly. Whether it is going to be fight or flight, don't hesitate. Do what you are going to do immediately and with purpose, don't give an attacker time to think.
• Make noise. If attacked an overpowered, get loud and you might get somebody's attention.

I carry one of those jolt flashlights. there not legal in all states so anyone considering on getting one might want to check with the local laws!! there perfectly legal for where I am and I think in Oregon and wash there legal to!! not that I haven't use the tazer yet

When I was a bouncer at a Jamaican club, That is what we had, 4 cell Mag light. Never had to use it for anything other than a flash light.

I have that cop version in my truck. It is a mini mag but it's heavier then the ones in the stores.

maybe @SkateBoard could find a you tube vid. this is the first I heard of this device!! though I would not have any problems with using a tire thumper as an attitude adjuster for an unwanted guest

When you're at a fuel island that has multiple lanes, pick a lane and stay with it. Don't stop short of the island waiting for 1 of 16 lanes to open.

Anyway the guy ran up to me screaming at the top of his lungs. A few good whacks with my tire thumper took care of that problem.

Your lucky. If he would have called the cops you would have been arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, truck towed, fired from job, banned from Canada and jail time.
