Just watched it with the boys Sunday night. My 5yo kept asking why is he always running from the police....

Biggest plot hole of that movie is the sheriff doesn't even know the truck exists. He's only after Frog. Other than that one trooper who starts to bust Snowman for speeding, no one would ever have known about the Coors. And ultimately no one does because that stop goes uncompleted.

Sheriff keeps saying he's after Bandit. The viewer keeps thinking it's because of the beer but it's only because he's got Frog.

And the whole decoy vehicle doesn't actually work anyway because no matter how many people are after Bandit, it only takes one to pull over the rig as we saw the bear on a bicycle do. That bear could have completed the traffic stop of the rig, busted Snowman for the beer, and just let Sheriff keep chasing Bandit for Frog.

You all are convincing me that I don’t really want to get an 18 wheeler. I own a 26 for streight truck and drive under my own MC Authority. I have been considering getting a big rig when my Authority hits the 2 year mark. I have not yet missed a delivery deadline because I let them know upfront when I can deliver and have the RC adjusted if they try to shorten the delivery time on me. I am getting the sense that that is not the way it works with the big trucks.

Every company you deal with is different. There is a huge difference between a straight truck and a big rig. I think you'll love a big rig. If you know someone that has one, try a run or two and see if you like it. It's not for everyone, but I kinda think it might be for you. I'm only a company driver, the owners will tell you their thoughts. There's good and bad but for me, the good far outweighs the bad.

You have to find a way to waste that 3 hours because it is not a 21 hour cycle. You can only drive 11 hours in a 24 hour period. For purpose of this example we are going to forget about the 30 minute break. Let’s say you begin driving at midnight and do your 11 hours, you are not legal to drive again until midnight because you have already used all driving hours in that 24 hour period. If you start driving again before midnight you are in violation. The same goes if you started at noon, you have to take into account the hours you drive after noon the day before.

And you'd be wrong about that.

How, this is what the Colorado DOT auditor told me and flagged me for. I had my 10 hours of down time but started too soon to avoid having more than 11 hours of driving within a 24 hour period!

You got screwed by the auditor. The regs only state that you can't drive more than 11 hours before taking a 10 hour break, or a combination of an 8 hour sleeper break and off duty time adding up to 2 hours - plus whatever will be allowed by the new changes. There is nothing in there about hours limited in a 24-hour period. You need to spend some time with part 395 of the FMCSRs.

Because no where does fmcsr 395.3 restrict it to a specific 24-hour period.

Having said that....

Colorado does make a comment of a 24-hour period. However it only makes it confusing as it’s not stated in the regulations that way.

if they wrote it up as a state violation, it would be a 392.2 violation on local laws.

He did do his job and go divert that motorcycle cop. Moral of the story is don't pick up hitchhikers but that doesn't make good TV

That was literally the only time and he was about to be busted for speeding. He wasn't stopped for the beer, but he would have been busted for it after they looked. The whole big to do was Sheriff Buford and he never knew anything about any truck, let alone one with beer.

On Canadian rules the nanny box shits down my neck and says no driving after 13 in 24 hours even after I've had my 10(or 8 on deferment) off but it surely doesn't care about over 11 in 24 in the states like you said.

The nanny box knows everything. Ask anyone because it told everyone that will listen!!

Mine jumps in the back and starts kicking me in the nuts at 9h58 or so. It gets really annoying. When you look like me you need all the beauty sleep you can get.
