EC's Going For It

I hear ya. when I was pulling chassis, it was a rough ride. Full Air-Ride truck and trailer was like a Cadillac.
Now the shunt truck is on springs, the cab is on air, doesn't help much. Still a rough ride in certain parts of the yard with potholes.

My train aka the one with my box on it for today didn't show up yesterday the way it was supposed to. So I had zero work. It sat in Connellsville PA for 3 days for whatever reason.

It was super warm today, to the point where the offensive snow around the truck melted clean off. Also it was super warm today, to the point where I could heat gun the old IFTA stickers off and heat gun the new IFTA stickers on.

Other than hitting up the supermarket for basic groceries again, I wasted my day otherwise.

Today went way smoother than I expected. I left the house around 6:30am so I got a decent but not crazy early start. I had no stop and go traffic anywhere, if you don't count hitting every red light through a town.

They rescheduled that box for today and it arrived last night. It was a Fredericksburg VA a little different than what I usually do, but not new. If that makes sense. Kinda heavy for what it was though. Truck did fine. It doesn't seem to care one way or another. It seems to have even better cooling than the day cab did, and that thing was a mountain goat.

The heavy ones ride sooooo nice especially over our broken pavement.

When I say heavy it's relative. I wasn't at basic 80k gross. I had another 5k or so before I was there. But it was enough to plant everything down with a nice PSI number on the drives. Most of the stuff we pull is a lot lighter by like 20k. And the rest of the time we're empty and that shit slaps. Literally sounds like thunder when the box hops and the panels go boom.

Also the new plug is a good problem to have. I can usually stand between the quarter fender and the fuel tank to hook up the lines but now with the new electrical plug it's too tight I can't jam it in with my bad left shoulder and pussified arm. So I gotta get up on the deck sometimes.

The lights don't wiggle dead anymore though so that's fantastic.

Passed my brother in law on the way home today. He works across from the rail and every time I see one of their trucks I try to see if it's him. It almost never is. Today it was. So that was cool.

We both have newer Macks. His company has mostly single axles since they haul light. It's private fleet. One of the best gigs around but you definitely earn it.

They run regional teams. My truck would make a killing if it was operated like that.

Tried to get fuel at my usual. Card denied. Called corporate. Offshore was useless.

Still had about 80 gallons so moved on figured I'd try another place. Got to Sheetz same deal card rejected.

Had to use my own credit card.

Will call Monday to see if it was a fluke. Hopefully it's not a bankruptcy thing. We've all seen this movie before.

The upside to getting fuel with my own card is I have both a Sheetz Visa and a Sheetz rewards card, which is good for a little over 10 cents off per gallon. That actually brought it down to less than what I'd have paid through the comdata both there and where I was originally planning to get fuel.

So in a way it worked out better. But for easier IFTA and the fuel discounts elsewhere like PA it's better to use comdata.

Hopefully just a glitch. Not a good sign after what you posted about potential bankruptcy.

Fuel card worked today. Saved myself some potential hassle going straight for the first big Sheetz after the scale in VA.

They put a new one in at the 302 exit which works out perfect with me getting off at the 300 to go to Fredericksburg.

Don't have a clue why it didn't work on Saturday. I never called anyone, I was planning to do that if it didn't work again today.

Got started around 10:30am. Fog wasn't completely gone but visibility went from like 200 feet to half a mile or something.

Simple down loaded, back up loaded. Gravy and a short day. Took advantage of it to swing by the dealer and get 4 fuel filters.

They're not common spin one and the only cheap ones are generics and not much less than the dealer. Doesn't make sense to trust fuel to a no-name IMHO.

Once and if someone like Luberfiner makes them (or I find them if they already do) I'll see what the prices are and consider it.

Dealer had 43 in stock and would have sold me all of them if I wanted so for now supply doesn't seem to be an issue.

Started earlier than yesterday but not really as early as I wanted to. No particular reason, just didn't get moving. Easy day just like yesterday, drop load in front of building, pickup load from behind the building.

Didn't run completely out of hours but I don't like to go out the next day with less than 14. I would have had 9-ish. Good time to take a reset. Nothing is rolling off.

I worked 6 days straight so I'm satisfied with my efforts overall.

When you had the drone out in the fog, were you able to make it ascend high enough it can't see the ground, and roofs are just ghostly obscure shapes?

Or would it be too dangerous to let it get out of your sight?

I just think that would make a really cool video. Especially with the right music added.

It probably would have had no problems flying that high but I didn't want to risk it.

It's also technically illegal to lose direct sight of it.

I'm not in an area where there's any particular danger with it up there in the fog but I wouldn't want to lose it altogether. If you can't see it the camera can't see either, and you can't fly it because you don't know where it is.
