A few posts from this thread on Facebook might get a different attitude.

Mercer's Permits department sent a certified letter to Julian's house demanding the return of his fuel card, permit book, log book and truck plate within ten days or they were going to report the truck stolen.

I called Tim Comstock, one of the bigwigs in Louisville, and begged a stay of execution on that. Julian was still on the ventilator.

This whole experience just made me sick to the bone how this family was treated by Mercer. Swift....hell, even Prime isn't this cold-hearted.

I copied and pasted the obit on their FB page.. lets see how long it stays up.

I read that letter about 5 times & didn't see where it says they'd report it stolen. It just said they wanted some termination of lease thing signed & that stuff sent in. I think they're withholding freight payment & some kind of escrow until they get it.

Gloria might have misunderstood what she heard. That's how it was told to me. However, when I called Mr. Comstock, he confirmed it. But he also said he would hold the dogs off.

Screw them ( Mercer).
Tell'em they ought to worry about the big dogs................

I would'a called his bluff.....When the cops stopped me and tried to arrest me for stealing the truck, Mr Cocksock or whatever his name is would have to explain why he made a false police report.
Unlike the Mega carrier leases, O/O's at Mercer actually own their trucks and the compny would have a hard time explaining why they would report a truck "stolen" from them by it's legal owner or in this case his estates lawful representative. (That would be Ducky)
If The plates were removed and the signs were removed or covered up....Mercer would no longer have any claim to the thing on any level.

Mr Cocksock didn't need to "hold the dogs off" because, there were no dogs to hold off!

If, and it's a big IF, he was able to find a police agency stupid enough to arrest a man for legally moving the truck that they no longer had any claim to....The cops and Mr Cocksock would be subject to the resulting civil and possibly criminal proceedings, which I personally, would have gleefully persued.

I'm sitting at a table in front of the TA in ..... somewhere near the TX/NM border on I-10... letting Tim catch a nap. Didn't wanta keep rolling the window down to smoke, letting in all the idling diesel noise. Tried sitting on the shiny, spotless catwalk but exhaust fumes drove me off. Can't sit in the drivers lounge cuz there's a bunch of loud, annoying guys in there yelling because somebody on TV failed to, or successfully carried/threw/kicked a ball past a pre-determined reference point in the grass or polished wood floor or something. Can't smoke in the restaurant.

It's nice out here actually. Gentle breeze, 84 degrees, not hot at all. But I'm on the car side & I can still smell diesel exhaust.

Some man/woman (couldn't tell) just walked up & asked me for gas money. Thinking quickly, I said "I'm waiting for a ride for pretty much the same reason. My car broke down & my brother's on his way with some parts". Worked perfect, no further sob story, cuz seriously, what kind of moron sits at a table outside a truck stop at 11:22 PM unless they're stranded? LOL.

A few minutes later one of the teenage girls who I can see sitting inside at the Burger King with their mom walked out to their car for something & the same he/she gave her the same panhandler pitch. I didn't hear what she said but the he/she got back in his/her car & took off.

Uhhhhhhh, Dear Gene.
The driver's account was canceled and the status of the load was surely known, so yeah, I'm thinking somewhere in that conversation it was mentioned he was IN THE FRIGGEN HOSPITAL!
Dingbat.
