DOT Physical...Some Changes Since Last Time

When/if it does ever start getting enforced, there will be some major changes. On the positive side of it, look at it this way, the general public will no longer see all the fat obese truck drivers and think they are all fat slobs. Instead they will see fit healthy looking drivers and get a better opinion. Sad but true i think. And also, you never know, since having healthier drivers on the roads, your insurance premiums may drop. No longer having to pay for the accident waiting to happen. And if drivers want to keep there jobs, well then maybe they take better care of themselves and eat healthier and lead more active lifestyles. You know, instead of parking on the front row fatass, park in the back and walk to the store/restaurant.

Parking in the back is all well and good as long as you have a gift of the glare. By that, I mean if you are a female who isn't 500 pounds and still have all (or most of) your teeth, it is generally assumed by the less intellegent mutts that you are for sale. They do not hesitate in flashing their lights in an attempt to purchase some female company. Usually, a stern glare takes care of it. However, one time, I had to throw my half empty soda cup into the middle of this guy's windshield. I really wanted that soda, too.

i cannot tell you the many times i'd be eating some M&M's, or a candy bar, or a sandwich, and the last handful falls on the floor...

You got a she doc thats anal probing you on a DOT physical? She's got a fetish. They stopped doing that when they stopped asking if you have or ever had gonorrhea and syphilis.

The prostate check has nothing to do with sexually transmitted diseases. Checking men for prostate issues is important, as we get older the risk of prostate cancer increases, and the key to surviving it is early detection.

I don't mind a doctor completing a thorough exam.

Besides, she has small fingers and a gentle touch.

Well if she isn't one of the morbidly obese drivers then why would she need to park in the back row. I will be nice this time and let her park up front. My main comment was for the obese drivers and if they "DID" want to do something about their weight, parking in the back is an option. If they still just don't care and park in the front or as close to the buffet as they can get, then i don't want to hear any crap from them because they lost their job for being a fatass.

The prostate check has nothing to do with a DOT Physical now.They stop asking questions about gonorrhea and syphilis about the same time.
My point is if she finds something while rooting around in there she can fail you or at best give you a 6 month card.

While getting your prostate check is a good thing, it should be done by your family doctor thats not connected to a DOT physical.

Well this is a family forum and thats a family matter and we are all one big happy family except that one over there in the back, they're the red headed adopted step child. LOL.

I thinkit it cuts both ways. It makes you think about health. This is a safety on the road. This is a productive driver. But this may be an element of discrimination or pressure. This is money.. brother (с).

They don't have to all be under the rule until 2015 I believe. Besides, it won't be as bad as some think. For example, I have a plastic knee cap and no minuscus in my right knee. I have a handicapped parking permit that I ONLY use if it's raining or icy in the parking lot. I can lie on my back and lift my legs off the ground for 20 seconds but I can't do squat thrusts nor can I lift more than 20 pounds, but that will not disqualifiy my from driving. I am HWP and I just passed my new medical (except glasses) with flying colors. Those of us who are HWP will not be required to take apnea tests and such. Only people who are obese and likely to have that problem will is what I was told by the doc.


I'm NOT being critical for the sake of being critical, but it does bother me when I see a 400 pound guy or gal take 10 minutes to get all that hoisted up in the driver seat. Most can't keep the steering wheel from hitting their stomach and it makes me wonder just how fast they can get that foot from the fuel to the brake....Times are a changin' folks.

If they do go ahead and make radical changes to the medical I would suggest you all go in and renew your medical for another 2 years even if your current medical has not expired. If the medical changes are so strict they start losing drivers left and right they may pull back on those restrictions. That new 2 year medical may help you make it over the hump until things calm down again.

Honestly i hope not. why should someone unmedically fit be allowed to drive? Wish it would kick in now. I got family and friends who drive the same roads as these drivers and i don't want to see any hurt just because a driver who is medically unfit beat the system. How would you feel if a medically unfit driver who beat the system had medical issues and ended up killing your family or a friend? Its not right , get them off the road now. Im not going to jai, i'd kill them,l for killing some idiot unfit driver for killing my friends or family. Think about it both ways. sure i don't want drivers losing jobs but i dont want unhealthy drivers out there either driving 80,000 lb missles killing my friends and family. I'd be one of the first to sign a bill to get them off the road.

actually as explained to me by both my G/P and Urologist, the probe is a quicker way to find a problem. if we guys have some type of "issue" we will jump about 6 feet into the air, when we are probed. The PSA as also told to me, and i do believe it was published in the AMA monthly paper, is not as accurate as once thought.
