Door latch problems especially when cold.

So I was getting that hissing leak fixed today and told them about that door being hard to close.

They said that's common and every Volvo he ever worked on had that problem.

@Duck I know you use to drive Volvos
did you have this issue and how did you deal with it other than the spray lubes that work for a day or two.

could be a possibility, that the lubes are causing this problem.

some are just too sensitive to temps extremes.

back in my early wrenching days, i'd have to pull the inner door panel off, and use brake kleen to clean up all the gunk from lubes.

ordinary machine oil (the old 3 in 1) or motor oil would be used instead, and only enough to give a light coating, not dripping wet.

Yeah, the mechanic was spraying something on the lock mech' and I told him I already tried that and he said
this was something different than wd40 but I forgot was he said it was.

I asked him about replacing it he said sometimes that helps but sometimes it does not that the prob eventually returns and that the labor is extensive.

The only time I ever had a door that was hard to close, was one that had its hinge hyper-extended by wind that grabbed it and slammed it open as soon as I opened it.

There was no visible damage but for the rest of the time I was in that truck I had to slam it like I was mad at it, or it wouldn't latch all the way.

And I'm sure the wind has hyper-extended the door on this truck a few times over the years so that the very precise mechanisms of the door latch gets screwed.

if anything WERE precise on a Vulvo...???

you'd be driving either a Bentley or Rolls Royce....

My Volvo does the door thing too. Spray helps. Lasts a month or so. Mine wont open from outside unless you pull the handle fast. Regular speed and it does nothing. Kind of weird, I learned to live with it and just pull fast.

I was out in a wind storm once window half cracked..

Jumped out to hook up a trailer..

That wind blew the door n shattered my glass..

Okay I was pissed off n Slammed the Door then the glass broke..

At the Terminal I hadda have a "Story" so Im sticking 2 it..

We got a Volvo at the plant that refuses to latch unless you slam it five times.
I would let you know what the solution is except they never fix anything off-site unless the truck stops running
