If Council Bluffs Iowa is some place wierd then yes! I’m from some place wierd. My mom is from Sinclaireville New York and my Dad is from Niobraira Nebraska and that’s what they call the dish I described. Forced me to eat it as a kid. I will not eat it as an adult whatever it’s called.Aren't you from some weird place like California, where they think a complete meal involves vegetables, tofu and seeds? Because that ain't shepherd's pie.
Make a meat compote with mushrooms, onions and a thick, rich sauce. Throw in a few vegetables and cook until hot and veggies are done. Put this into a baking dish of some kind, I like to use bread pans, and cover with a 1" layer of mashed potatoes. Bake at 350°F until the top is golden brown. You can sprinkle parmesan cheese or bread crumbs on top before baking if you feel like it. I prefer just the smashed taters, seasoned correctly with salt, pepper and butter.
I have no idea what to call that abomination you described. It sounds absolutely disgusting. But it ain't shepherd's pie.

Something that should never, ever be put on pizza: Barbecue sauce. The bottle shouldn't even be placed on the same countertop. In fact, before wrapping that pizza up and putting it in the fridge, throw away any opened, unfinished bottles of BBQ sauce inside. Hell, throw away all the BBQ sauce in the house, opened or not. BBQ sauce should never be anywhere on the same block as pizza. And whoever came up with that needs to be shot. If he's already dead, dig him up and shoot him.

Never tried it either but I suppose if it was swimming in Louisiana hot sauce it wouldn't be that bad.Fish tacos!!
Two words that ought not exist within the same sentence!!
Am I right,
or am I right!??
Never tried it,
NEVER WILL!!
And if you've ever tried it you're a damn, dirty, gender-fluid, snowflake sonova...

Does that count?

yeah, the freaking salts in nearly every canned food is outrageous. we all can add salt if we need to. but as you alluded to, there ARE lazy people out there, that cannot pick up a slat shaker. At home it's meat on the George Foreman, or something I can do on the stove top like spaghetti or beefaroni. I need to stop eating beefaroni because of the salt but it's easy, just open the can, pour it in the pan and heat it up.
I rarely use the microwave.

in sharp contrast to a trucker at the truckstop, who cannot put one down...!
Sugar and salt are used as preservatives. That being said, sugar added to practically all prepared foods is primarily used to hook people on them.More the hidden sugars too.
oh i know salt is a preservative...however why is one can of tomato soup i buy at Aldi, is 480 mg's of salt and another brand Campbells, at 690 mg?Sugar and salt are used as preservatives. That being said, sugar added to practically all prepared foods is primarily used to hook people on them.
A few years ago, Papa Johns tried a hamburger pizza. Most disgusting thing i tried to eat. Id rather eat 2 week old taco bell from the dumpster.Something that should never, ever be put on pizza: Barbecue sauce. The bottle shouldn't even be placed on the same countertop. Google "big sugar" - there's quite a bit of documentation on the sugar industries effort to get sweeteners into as much prepared foods as possible.oh i know salt is a preservative...however why is one can of tomato soup i buy at Aldi, is 480 mg's of salt and another brand Campbells, at 690 mg?
it's frigging TOMATO soup......why is there MORE salt in the name brand, over a store brand.>???
sugar...Aldi is at 10g.......Campbells is at 12 g.
i find no absolute difference in taste, just a BIG difference in cost AND salt/sugar contents.
by the way, i actually have right here, right now, BOTH cans of soup.........not hard to quote facts.
i can never find salt free or sugar free canned foods, at both stores. IF i were to go to an EXPENSIVE health food store, i'd hope to find what i want/need, but then, i'd be coming home with maybe less than a 1/4 full shopping bag as well, thanks to the extreme high prices of a so-called health food store.
seems to me, it costs money to add those ingredients over deleting them.....and they are cheaper..?????
i got an excerpt from one site:Google "big sugar" - there's quite a bit of documentation on the sugar industries effort to get sweeteners into as much prepared foods as possible. After someone eats sugar and their brain activity is mapped, the activity totally lights the brain up. That kind of response doesn't even happen when alcohol is consumed, or heroin is injected. We seriously crave sugar. Thus the connection between the sugar and processed food industries.
