only been here one time during the time it was a Pilot, and only because it was a fuel stop and I ran myself too low to go anywhere else.

Since Road Ranger broke away from the grasp of P/FJ, and their fuel is in the NASTC network, decided to check it out again.

Showers are free, whether you are buying fuel or not.

Deli area with fried food and pizza, got a Subway, and a regular restaurant.

And beer.

I've been stopping in there for 40 years, ever since I was a kid riding with my parents on the way to Grandmas house in Missouri.

One time my communist sister told me I would get arrested if I cut through the Truck Drivers Only section on the way to the bathroom.

I did something very similar at the truck stop in Wilmington, IL on Lorenzo (before the Petro showed up). Woke up 2 hours after I was supposed to be unloading my tanker a couple miles away. Putting a bar at a truck stop is a bad idea. Very bad...

I was too scared unloading chemicals to drink too much before loading or unloading.

That time I was new to flatbedding and had spent all day padding and tarping a machine then drove most of the night.

First time I unloaded Sulfuric I was tense as hell. The guy was a total ass about drips and drops. So I went nuts containing the few. Some got in a bucket.

The I asked where I could dispose of it.

He told me I could water it down and put it in a drain.

Dilution is the solution.

Yep, having a water hose nearby is a life saver with that crap.

We didn’t clean out the hoses that we kept on the trailers for those loads. Sometimes, the hose would be under pressure when taking the caps off before hooking them to the trailer. 5 gallon bucket of water to quickly rinse with was very beneficial.

I’m a Never Tanker now. Enjoyed the work, but not comfortable with the potential long term issues from being exposed to some of that crap.

Most of the rates out of South Gate were good. If I lived out there I wouldn't mind that slow roll up and down I5 once a week or so.

But QC is just not a company to get lost in the system with. The affiliates just don't play well together. Having a crappy affiliate to start with helped nothing.

Are we off topic?

Maybe not. I did do a fair amount of sitting in truck stops at that company also...

Our affiliate ran their own loads completely, we never mixed into the system. Loaded out, empty back.
