Diet during a Covid pandemic, and at any other time. What you really need to know!

never really paid attention to diets. in my mid 40's. 224 lbs. all I ever eat is 2+2+2 for breakfast. 2 eggs, 2 strips bacon, 2 slices of buttered toast, glass of milk. lunch, ham or peanut butter Samish with small bag of dried fruit or apple and warm water. dinner consist of meat and a potato. with small salad, and yes water, cold water.

Also, modern, mass farmed grains are far from their genetic predecessors and have dubious nutritional value.

Actually I checked that out with just a cursory interest. We all heard of GMO foods. Seems there are only a handful of crops that are gmo'd

1. Canola oil
2. Corn
3. Sugar beets
4. Milk
5.Papaya
6. Soybean
7. Apple
8. Potato
9.Squash
10. Sugar

Now the FDA do not list some of these and I was surprised grains like wheat, rice, rye oats, etc, are not on the list.

They do say the nutritional value of gmo's are the same as non gmo's though.

Interesting.

Fortunately, none of that Frankenfood is on a Keto diet.

If they are the same, where did celiac disease come from and why is it so prevalent all of a sudden?

I dont remember any kid in elementary school eating a PBJ looking like Arnold in Total Recall when he got sucked into Mars' atmosphere, but now we can't have peanuts anywhere near an airplane.

I'm not against GMO, but theres a lot the food industry is not telling us, and they've gone unchecked far too long.

Again, its one area the EU has a good handle on.

When we were in Ireland, a lot of people couldn't rhink outside the box of being an obnoxious American and still went to places like McDonald's and Burger King.

They said the meat tasted funny.

One person actually said to me, "I think its because they use more preservatives over here."

They do not use more preservatives in food products in Europe. They use far less. Less dyes, less salt, far less sugar. Even packaging is not obtrusive. You buy something, and you can actually open it. What a concept.

That wasn't the only time I was embarrassed by fellow Americans the two weeks we were in Ireland.

Hybridization

So it seems.

Yeah, although wheat is non GMO it is hybridized and they think that is what is causing more gluten sensitiveness.

Gotta do your homework and know your body that's for sure.

Every food is bad for you in one way or another according to experts.

Our biggest enemy is sedentarianism. We simply need to move more. Myself included.

I feel 100x better when I'm out and about working on the truck than I was over the past 5 years sitting on my ass holding a steering wheel.

Ever since I quit heavy haul and throwing three tons of half inch all the time I feel like a crumbling monument.

Still a glorious, gorgeous, majestic, fantastic monument, but a crumbling one.

I'm invigorated by this work. I love it. Sure my shoulder still gives me trouble but favoring it only weakens it anyway.

Even sitting in my house watching TV sucks anymore.

I notice a lot more drivers walking while waiting to be loaded. Some guys do laps around the yard others pace the length of their truck. That was something I never seen 20 years ago.
It's good to see some drivers get moving.

I get a lot of cardio in because I can't eyeball the size of a fastener to save my life.

I think it's a 1/2...nope.

I think it's a 5/8...nope.

I think it's a 3/4...nope.

Oh it is a 1/2...just rusty.

Tell me about it.

Our diet is supposed to correspond to our physical output.

At your age many can get away with loading on the calories with maybe only a slightly extended waistline to show.

But when we start climbing into our upper 40's and beyond our waistline is only part of the problem.

I had to learn that the hard way myself.

I haven't been at the age where I could overeat with no side effects in years.

Lol
Everybody metabs differently I guess.

AIK is I was throwing down well into my 30's just a bit over my high school weight until I got in my 40's.
When I took 30 days leave in between assignments in Florida and Korea, I ended up on the First Sergeant's weight control roster.

There's yer sign.

A diet of beer, burgers and climbing F4 boarding ladders 500 times a night took care of it.
