Cutting the cord

Yeah the market is too small methinks.

Even wealthy people seem to be mostly buying the actual Prius.
remembers one time i had a client looking for a house and it was in the 20-30 million dollar price range and she pulled up in a prius i just don't get it:confused-96::stare1:

this looks interesting but it's not availible everywhere yet even if it's out yet. after trying a sling box wich was a POS. all this online streaming is not an experiment. all cable and satellite video will be IP streaming video in a few years.. they need to toss the legacy video distribution system in the crapper so they can free up the spectrum to deliver gigabit internets service to our homes in alot of areas using the DOCSIS 3.1 technology. alot of cable companies are afraid that google fiber will put them out of business hell it's about time for a change were not in the stone age anymore. as there already seeing a huge decline in there video product and now there trying to sell you like home phones and alarm systems:D. thank god we have options out here as i don't think that i would want to depend on the cable co for anything again after they throttled my ass bk for using ten terabytes one time :biglaugh::D:rolllaugh3: that and my modem always getting knocked off line and there gonna think that i am gonna trust them with an alarm system and or a home phone. wich the home phone in my area only has one connection card so if my internets go down so does the phone they should have used seperate cards:coocoo:

I have not cut the cord like I had planned. The cable company keeps offering packages that are far more cheaper to keep the cable.
Now I have unlimited internet and I really don't need cable.
I don't even watch regular T.V. I stream everything. No commercials and on demand.
I was binging on Seinfeld, still working my way through it for the 125th time. i always find something that I never got the first 124th time.

i thought you had brought the cable box back already  i guess not thanks for updating. directv tried giving me deals but it would have involved a contract something that i was not willing to get locked into again. companies do contracts so they don't have to offer decent customer service they have you either way!!! i have unlimited internets to and bandwith and i use it:rolleyes:.. that's why i got rid of the directv i rarely watch and the cost is not justifiable 35 bucks is alot better than what cable or satellite charges. when i had the dvr i never watched live tv everything was recorded so i could skip the commericals:D directv has on demand to free though i havent played with it yet

Up here we have it just sucks dealing with cable/internets providers. There is no way we get the rate yous guys do. We have the highest internets rates in the world
I am just happy I got unlimited internets now. i don't have to watch cable and I won't.

it sucks dealing with cable and isp's down here. 99% of them hire out to third world countries:mad:. what do you mean that you don't get the rates that we get down here:confused-96:. we have the slowest intrenets with the highest cost per month. have you looked to see what speeds people are getting and what there paying in other countries it will piss you off:mad:. cable and satellite t.v. are dead everythings going to iptv online streaming as it's cheaper for them to transfer data over the internets than use antennas and satellites. along with it has a further range also. i have unlimited internets i can be as much of a bandwith whore that i want:D. i was researching the area where i wanted to move for gigabit speed internets there is a company there but the don't do residential they do but not in the area i wanted to move in and they refered me to comcast. i am sorry but i would never let comcast in my house. i pay for high speed internets and NOT bandwith caps. and what in the hell makes them think that i am going to give them an extra $50.00 for unlimited internets:confused-96::coocoo:. as they were also rated one of the worst providers that keeps raising the rates for trash:mad: i'm more on my pc than watching the idiot box. it's just crazy to pay over $200.00 a month to watch what when most of the time there's nothing on:rolleyes::coocoo:. i am happy with the directv now package there's more on that then there was regular directv $35.00 a month for 100 channels aint bad and i will be grandfathered in to.. i have a netflix account too_O. and i watch it as well. but i'll be dammed if i'm gonna pay over $200 a month to watch the idiot box. the kids all stream the netflix as well:)..

duck should start his own cable show:biglaugh:

once people start dropping cable tv the video part. then providers will raise the monthly cost for the internets. you just can't win

don't even bother with directv now it sucks. videos keep freezing and unable to load among other things. no phone support just online chat only. i told the moronic drone in chat one day that i wanted a refund for a service that did not work and the idiot told me there was no refunds:mad:.. so i filed a complaint with the FCC and got my money back after speaking with someone from the office of the president:). even got the apple t.v. free to:)

One of the cable companies has a great anti- Direct-TV ad. It depicts a blizzard and then a warm fire and a bowl of popcorn and when the person sits down all comfy cozy and just wants to watch TV...........................................................Static! LOL

ok...now Comcast is "gonna git" many.......and so it goes..

Comcast adds Chicago customers to those under data caps

"Data limits, which are already common with cellphone plans, have drawn complaints from customers and some public-interest groups because they can make it more expensive to watch Netflix and other streaming video services that compete with cable."

i think you have to pay them some stupid amount like 50.00 a month extra for unlimited bandwith:mad:. my cell phone is unlimited data the only time they will slow you down is when the network is congested and plus my new phone downloads at 1 gigabit speeds:drool: it's nice to have a freaking smart phone that works:D

iv'e seen that AD everyone's home all warm and fuzzy using all the of the providers services and there raving how great there product is when it sucks:D. id'e love to see my cable co give me 4 gigs DL speeds and a t.v. picture that don't break up and pixelate:mad: along with studio audio quality but cable is the worst source for t.v. cause they have to amp up the signal every so many miles. id'e take satellite t.v. over cable any day. if someone hits a phone pole atleast i'll still be able to watch t.v.:D

You can have a gillion gigabit but your only going to get what they give you. Your phone or your PC can't handle it anyways. Nobody transmits to you or receives at a gigabit rate. You can run a speed test but that's only theoretical, not real. Go download a known size big file and put your watch on it. Your lucky to get 900kbs. Your PC or phone can't handle the data anyways. It just can't write to disk or is fast enough to process the data. In just a few milliseconds it will say WHOA, hold on while I choke to death then you can start again.

Keep in mind, these places have to serve everyone, just not you alone. They can only output so fast so the server is the one dictating how fast you get it. I would say 90% of what you download comes in at just a few megabytes per second. Here's a little fact. The backbone of the internet in a large city can handle 900 DVD's per second!!!! That backbone is made up of 1,024 gigabit fiber optic lines put together.

I think I'm finally going to turn my cable box in real soon. I was supposed to do it after Christmas last year but I've been hesitating. I have Netflix and Amazon. I might pick up Hulu but I can't find a list of the shows they carry.

And I'll just put an antennae on all the tvs for local stuff.

I'll lose Oriole games and some national news stuff but the price of cable is just bugging me. They raised me thirty bucks at the beginning of the year and I have the cheapest package. Screw them.
