Cramping up

interesting. I'd like to know your potassium level, make sure its not too high. If your salts, postassium, calcium, magnesium,TSH, CPK, ESR are normal and you aren't having symptoms, its Miller time!!!!

It's been months since I've cramped up. Today would have put me way over the edge but no cramps. I've been taking 600mg of Potassium Gluconate every day. My question is. Did this take months to build up in me? I was still cramping up for a long time while taking these but all of a sudden it stopped.
I am thinking the cramps could be menstrual. lol

Don't know what my levels are. Stick a litmus paper up my butt? All I know is before I was drinking tons of Gatorade and thought that helped but it didn't. The ONLY thing that has changed is me taking a potassium pill every day. My question is does potassium take a while to build up in your system but that seems to have solved the problem.

usually potassium replaces quickly. A blood test will tell you as well. Glad you're feeling better. :)

An old remedy if you will. Before bed take a tablespoon of white vinegar, or just eat a large pickle. The vinegar will charge the potassium in your blood and no cramps.

Thanks for the tips. I haven't cramped up in many months. I stopped taking the potassium the other day so this will be an experiment and will report back. I'm sure the potassium is already out of my system. I loaded and tarped yesterday and no problems and it was HOT. I unload tomorrow so I'll be sweating again and we'll see what happens.

I love pickles and vinegar! When I'm home I slice up a cucumber and put it in a tall glass with vinegar and put in fridge for a while. The lady next door makes her own dill pickles and just made a batch and said to let them sit for like 4 months. There was maybe 10 jars. My son and 3 of his friends came home on leave from the Marines. When I woke up they had eaten them all. I guess that was the pickles part in the war effort.

Along those same lines. When I looked out the window my son and his 3 friends were holding onto the electric fence around the horses getting shocked. There was a light rain going on. I told them to take their shoes and socks off and do it again. Ever see 4 Marines thrown onto the ground. I locked the door so they couldn't beat me up.

The only thing that would have challenged that in the humor department was if they peed on it! If they did what you suggested they would have peed on it if you told them you would close your eyes!!!!!:foreheadslap:

Glad you have them home safe.

I know a guy who peed on a fence... never did it again!

I've done that, (when I was young, dumb, and stupid). And let me tell ya, it HURTS!!!!!!

That reminded me about the Ooo, Ooo Bird.

It was a bird who's balls hung 2 inches below its feet and when it came in for a landing the bird would go, Ooo, Ooo!

Hmmmmm.... I remember clearly back when I was about 14 trying to step across a 3 strand "bob-wire" fence where the top strand was hooked to a "shock box". Legs were about 2 inches too short. :scared::rolllaugh3:

Cramped up again big time in Inman, SC last week loading up. It was 100, high humidity and direct sunlight. Could only stand outside for a few minutes then had to sit down in the shade. I was soaking wet. Drank 1 gallon and 2 quarts of water. I was so sick of drinking water I was ready to puke. Had not eaten in a while and no appetite after parking. Was peeing clear.

Lay down in bed and was in rough shape. Way past my bed time and was awake and cramping up for another 6 hours. Right leg in back of the knee to the right.

Got my phone and wrote a txt to 911. Where I was, color of truck and other info so all I need to do was hit send. I hate the heat.

When Mrs. Duck had to go to the ER for her sodium levels being too low, they deprived her of water. Drinking too much water lowers your sodium levels & can lead to a coma. Her symptoms of low sodium is stomach cramps & puking. I don't know what the symptoms would be in a person who doesn't have epilepsy & stuff. Maybe @DrDaliah knows.

I've heard it ain't good to drink massive amounts of water all at once. Just drink enough that you're pissing clear & you oughta be alright.

I didn't know you could send a text message to 911.

I go for a banana a day, and water. But if you sweat a lot can lose sodium which can cause cramps. My leg cramps quit after I started doing this and stopping more often and taking a walk. Works for me , but don't know what you're taking. Just saying hope it helps.

In the Hospital I worked on cement floors. Some shifts I walked up to eight miles. Us gals changed out our shoes every six months due to the wear down of our weight on them. However too much potassium is not good for the heart. So us gals used this...Epson Salts or magnesium sulfate has been around for years as one of the best natural muscle relaxants. It works best when added to a warm, not hot tub and soaked in for 15 minutes or until the waters gets cool. It works by drawing extra fluid build-up in the muscles out. It is that fluid that contributes to the stiffness in the muscles. Hope it helps some of you cause been there myself and done it too.
