Connecting inter-axel locking differential

I bought a 2012 Pete 587. Apparently itwas a fleet tanker truck and didnot come equipped with a locking inter axel or a locking differenrial. I would like to at least have a locking inter axel. I waswondering if that would be something an average person can do or would it be a huge job that should be done by a mechanic?

You'd have to look at whether your current diffs would accept a power divider. Off the top of my head, shorten the rear driveshaft, airlines, switch in the dash, it's probably one of those jobs that there's more involved than you think.

Best advice is find the same truck as yours in a wrecker and take every single piece off that truck you need

I am with skateboard puller, find a donor truck and Rob all the parts you need. In 2012 a lot of fleets started experimenting with dead axles to improve fuel economy so one of them axles may not have any parts in it.
