Any stock traders here?

I needed a hobby, so I opened up a stock account. Anybody else doing this?

Since I’m a high roller, with absolutely no fear of losing everything I own, I went all in by investing $200, lol.

Made $100 off of that so far, and have added another $200 cash into the account today.

Currently, it’s all invested into a COVID vaccine. At least for today.

I looked into some REIT. Those are mostly a "takes money to make money" type thing.

Look for high dividend yield stocks. 7% is good.

Except OXY. Occidental Petroleum. That company is nuts since they acquired Anadarko, and nobody knows whats going to happen.

Motley fool has decent articles on high dividend stocks, but keep in mind they never tell you about the ones they've lost money on.

This is something I have been interested in for a while now. I don't think we have hit rock bottom yet.
Does anyone know anything about wealthsimple or use it?

Hadn’t heard of them, website was painfully slow for me, and took me to a signup very quickly. From the pricing, looks like they are about the same as the big names if you are looking to simply invest money and let someone else manage it for you.

Okay thanks. for the info.
I am looking to manage my own money and make my own trades
I already have others managing my money in mutual funds and they are not doing well.

Fidelity, E trade, and TD Ameritrade were the ones primarily recommended to me when I was asking around.

Not sure how the others are, but Ameritrade has lots of educational info, and you are assigned an account manager to help where you need it.

The problem with most is they try to ride the wave. By the time there is a wave they are already too late, the big boys are cashing out. I am no Warren Buffet but that has been my observation.
The big boys make their money off the little guys that are a day late and a dollar short.

Insider trading that nobody admits to, for obvious reasons.
That becomes an issue when you are moving large amounts of money while trying to work a regular job as well.

There is so much data out here though instantly available that it makes dealing with smaller amounts of money and small time stocks very much doable, I think.

So far, so good. Took my money and my profits to the COVID vaccine related stock, and after some roller coaster action most of the afternoon it went on a climb at the end of the day and put me another $50, so the total day was a profit of almost $200, on a total investment of $400 into the stock market.

As long as I can keep earning, I will keep putting a little money in at a time.

You probably have some Canadian knock off or something. Like on South Park how Canadian heads move differently. Something like that.

Also, mutual funds can in fact be adjusted. Ive changed mine a few times. Its still fairly disappointing though. But they are a LONG game.
