A Heavy Haulin' Grocery Hauler Goes Tanker Yankin'?!

Some nights it feels like somebody...
somebody out there is.....

First up was the trainee ( no really, complete with signage and clipboard totin', greasy haired virgin named Earl in the jump seat ) who, after moving left for the Trooper, moved back into the right lane and.......stopped. Complete STOP.......in the travel lane........... in front of the gas hauler.
Did the old "stomp and swing" on the pedal and the horn.
Luckily one of the two woefully under qualified individuals fingered out the shituation and jumped off the exit before the Freightliner fornicated with the Toyota.
Hopefully Earl gets fired before he gets someone killed.

Next up was the taint massager in an Audi who pulled out right in front of me in the rain in a 35mph zone and then proceeded at a blistering 13 mph for 3/4 of a mile.

And of course the usual assortment of idjits who give less than a fuck that a truck is tryin' to maneuver in the lot.
Seriously.....it's like the truck has a cloaking feature.

On the lighter side I did watch some mook wash his car.
At the gas pumps.
With the squeegee.:)
His entire car.
And then used the paper towels to dry it.
It was raining........

Also discovered one of our tank charts that had a typo.
At 67 1/4 inches the chart showed the number gallons going in the wrong direction......getting smaller for the next inch and 3/4.
My initial stick reading was 68 1/2 so hadda stop the drop after the first pocket to stick the tank again to make sure it would all fit.

So I get done dropping and gonna take my 30 and call my wife. 20.......feckin 20 mins into the convo, I realize I had not put my self off duty. Well.....shit.
Paid by the hour.....I'm all good.

So what I'm saying is they still pay me when I fuck up, so........

Well I didn't deliver any gas today because.....day off.

I know @Mike is trying to keep his board on point (understandably) so I'm here to provide an outlet for all your personal attacks, vulgarity and trolling.

Come to Uncle Keen's thread and fire away.

Bring it bitches.......you don't scare me.:thefinger:

Bet there ain't a pair amongst ya's ! :tongueout: :idiot:

What in the hell ever made you think you had friends?

Mapco in Nashville had someone dump Diesel into the Midgrade tanks at a couple stores. They are gonna buy a few cars now.
Tell the whiners to call that additive, "upper lube!"
Tell the whiners, "If you think octane is good, try this cetane!"
Think positive!

Well, another week of training in the books and no EPA reportable level events to report.

The hardest part of this job is actually figuring the peoplenet entries that have to be made.

Logs, workflow, TMW, loading/unloading info, inter trip insp........

That being said, I did screw up a little bit yesterday in figuring just how much room (inches) we was gonna need in the tank.
We get to the station and stick the tank. Come up with a reading of 43 inches.....shoulda been no more than 38.
Trainer looks at me and asks "you sure it was 38?"....yup.

My first thought was the company had sent us a "no fit" to see if we ..... well I .... would catch it.

We head back in the truck and when he grabs the loose leaf notebook with the tank charts I remember what I did....or more accurately, didn't do. I tell him that the readings for each stop today is fecked. I completely skipped a step in my calculations.
IDIOT!!

So he hands me the book and I do it over and the reading is now 47 or less.
You follow procedure and sh*t works out.

Which brings me to the next moment of excitement, where I actually had followed procedure and the stakes were quite a bit higher.

I pre-trip the truck before we go load. One of the most important things, if not the most important thing that needs to be checked is that each of the 5 pockets in the trlr is empty. Make sure the guy before you didn't screw up and leave you a nice 1500 gallon suprise because he was too sh*t all stupid to do his job.
(it happened here recently.....NO it wasn't me.....you know what, feck you)

I checked them.

We gets to the rack and start loading and........the Scully system shuts us down.
Probed out.
Means you're trying to load 2500 gals and this pocket already has 2000 gals in it and so your sh*t ain't gonna fit.
I said they were empty.....

Oh wait, I already are a truck driver.
I just figured my gas hauling career had come to a screeching halt.

Turns out the Scully on that trlr is somewhat bipolar and was having a moment.

You bi*ches thought you had me didn't you?:thefinger:

More updates to follow as I embark on what is sure to be a hall of fame gas hauling career.:taunt:

Make sure it ain't no HAUL OF FLAME gas hauling career.

Hope that there's a slight grade where you park. As a haul of flame gas hauler, you and your fellow lesser skinners must want to avoid any hazard like retain. So you just have to make sure all of the retain is out of the troughs and lines (and into a bucket). When I worked for Widing Transportation in the 1960s and 1970s all of us had that "safety concern." You'd be surprised how being safety conscious improves the fuel mileage of your pickmeup, car, or motor sickle. Cuts down on gas expense too.
