I've been in the brooks. It's not that cold. Ocean is a bit of a different story but I would probably do that too. That water has to be just above freezing. I couldn't imagine getting in that. Kids don't care. We would go in 32F/0C flowing water when we were kids. Not any more!
If there's a 20 foot deep swimming hole in that type of location, where the geology appears to be karst, there are probably underwater passageways one can potentially get sucked into if there is a current flow into them.We brought our rods but didn't think to bring shorts today. This is by my in laws place. Our kids have been in there in summers before. You can jump in off those ledges past the wooden platforms and the water is about 20 feet deep. View attachment 91108
You're so boring. *Chugs a Coors Lite and hoots in frat boy*If there's a 20 foot deep swimming hole in that type of location, where the geology appears to be karst, there are probably underwater passageways one can potentially get sucked into if there is a current flow into them.
I'd be careful, unless it's a place where the locals have been swimming for generations with no issues.
Most all the rivers are rocky bottom here and there are far more rocky beaches than sandy ones. You don't go in without some kind of hard soled water shoe if you've got half a brain. If there's a 20 foot deep swimming hole in that type of location, where the geology appears to be karst, there are probably underwater passageways one can potentially get sucked into if ther toe is a current flow into them.

A Newfoundlander told me the Atlantic around there never warms up. Is that true?I've been in the brooks. It's not that cold. Ocean is a bit of a different story but I would probably do that too.
How could it? It's only like 50 miles from the north pole.A Newfoundlander told me the Atlantic around there never warms up. Is that true?

It doesn't really. There were still pretty big icebergs around as of a couple weeks ago. I haven't been to any of the known spots for them in a while but they're probably not far. People do get in the ocean once it's hot though. I've waded in it pretty recently. Doesn't seem like anything I couldn't tolerate as long as the air was hot enough.A Newfoundlander told me the Atlantic around there never warms up. Is that true?
On the Appalachian Trail those would be considered "Executive Bathrooms"Can't even get a public washroom most places. In Newfoundland they build them on the side of the street for you. No hole in the ground either, proper running water sink and toilet God love em.View attachment 91093View attachment 91094View attachment 91095
