Yet more random thoughts... put 'em here

It seems that Duck Duck Go piggybacks itself onto other browsers or is a hidden install.
I don't get what you're saying.

DuckDuckGo is a standalone browser. Last I knew, it was available on the app stores.
It doesn't track your searches and it blocks most ads.

Without any kind of ad blocker, 90% of the internet is just garbage and you waste all your bandwidth downloading ad images.

Occasionally I encounter a website that detects the ad blocker and displays a whiny statement about the ad revenue supporting their site.

Sorry, but I'm not going to shut off the only thing that makes these cluttered up websites readable.

Sometimes I can't even scroll past the f*n ads without them automatically clicking on themselves.

This I did not know about.
I figured the ads data siphoning was built into the article. My computer knowledge is shameful.

I should look into DuckDuckGo.

Back in my day all we had was Duck Duck Goose.

I like the sites that put up a paywall or subscribe to this site to read the article.
(Being sarcastic it's the way Gen-x communicated in the 90s)

Pretty sure I can find the same info on another site for free.

Why do we need to file taxes? The government knows how much we made. But there are deductions.
Why are there deductions? As far as I can see it is mostly the wealthy that benefit from tax deductions.
I am not going on some SJW rant. I am just saying that the government knows how much you earn, and taxation should be a certain percent based on what you earn and deducted when you get paid.
No need to file!

You and 90% of the working people agree. I have a 09:00 appointment with my tax guy this morning. Not looking forward to it.

I don't actually know if it's just the ads that spy on you. I was just complaining about functionality.

The worst part of it is the videos that automatically start playing & won't go away, and clicking on the X either does nothing or makes it go full screen. That kind of thing.

Most of my frustration comes from my crappy old phone that I suspect has been programmed to be slow via one of those mandatory software updates you can't opt out of.

The DuckDuckGo browser clears it's history every time you close the app. But it also reloads your page of you switch to any other app, or sometimes just another tab in the browser, then come back to it.

I mean, I can't even open another tab to "Google" a word I'm not sure how to spell, or to fact-check a political post I'm typing from memory to make sure I get all the details right, prior to posting it. I come back to the post I'm working on & the whole page is white, and eventually reloads the page and I lose my progress.

It happens to me on Facebook and (rarely) on here. However, this forum has the "draft" function so most of the time my browser (not the forum) fucks up like that, my incomplete post is still here after reloading the page.

Lately when I'm debunking the lies from the Manteno, IL corrupt status quo mayor and board members, I simply bookmark the post, and use the Signal messenger app to type it all up in a message to my dad that I'm not intending to send, just because if anything ducks up, it saves the draft. Then I copy and paste it from the signal app to the Facebook post.

DuckDuckGo does not work well with Facebook, but I don't know if it's DuckDuckGo that sucks or if it's Facebook wanting to force people to install their app.

I don't have the Facebook app on my phone because I don't agree with the TOS and the permissions it requires.

If you can actually smell the chlorine level, the ppm of the water is way too high. Especially if it is a private pool with a low bathing load. A public pool where many people use it such as a hotel, has to have a high ppm count to counter body oils, kids that always pee in the pool rather than get out, older adults that have 'accidents', open sores, etc...

Chlorine is highly caustic and breathing the concentrated vapors of it will burn the septum right out of your nose. Kinda like what the nose candy did to you back in the day, only that had a hydrochloric acid base to it.

I was just at a pool party at my buddy Matt's house.

He's got one of those yuppy houses with a concrete inground pool.

A thunderstorm came through.

All we did was tell all the kids to get out of the pool. The rest of us didn't get out til we saw lightning hit a tree about a block away 😂

My pet peeve is people calling me Sir. Sure, it is a polite way to address someone. But I am not a Sir. (a person with authority or a person with status).

Once in a while when someone calls me Sir, I will say I am not a Sir, you are a Sir. 👉👑.
Everyone so far has laughed when I say this.

It only bugs me when people older than me call me Sir.

That ain't right. It's backwards.
