Why?????

I know,im saying vehicles these days for 100.00 are nothing more then a pile of scrap ready to be crushed and recycled.
My first car was an '86 Ford Escort that I bought for $40. It just needed a timing belt & a windshield. It belonged to a hot-head. When the timing belt broke, he punched the windshield from the inside & broke it. And he left a plate of food on the back seat floor board & it took me a lot of scrubbing & bleach to get the mold out. But I probably put about 100k miles on that thing. And they weren't easy miles either. They were "teenage boy" miles.

Sorry about the link, even Yahoo won't accept it and that's where I got it in the first place. :confused-96:

It was a 10.5 second 48 pickup in 1/4 mile race.

Now that is some truck you got there. Thot you was talking about a half-ton.

I got two other pick ups....Don't you think this one is a neat piece of junk???

The first car I ever bought was a '55 Buick.
$15...
but it had a bad tranny.
:(

Body, interior & paint were perfect.
GREAT radio (for the time).

Kept it in the driveway for a year then sold it as scrap for $20 when I was 15.
:(

Buddy of mine claimed he got lucky for the first time in that car.
You know you're poor when your make-out ride is a break-down in a buddies driveway.
:D

Walked every where when I was a kid. My feet were my auto.
The very first auto I drove was a 1965 chevy pick up at age 18.
The very first auto I bought with my own money was a 1964 Oldsmobile at age 20.
The Oldsmobile run like a brand new top....Had a friend and his wife lived across
the street from me...He was a retired cop...He helped me pick it out...Cause I honestly
did not know ding dong about auto's.

Super nice rod, but "stalker"??? Stalkers are stealthy critters.... that thing's about as stealthy as an aircraft carrier in yer backyard swimming pool.

Now if you had that setup in yer 48 so's ya can't see the blower an stuff..... hello mr Mustang. :panic:

Watch Street Outlaws and check out Farm Truck fer instance. Great fun to watch him stompin the "fast cars" when he goes "fishin'".:D

What I was looking at was the 1400 horse power and the size of the engine and carbs...Think I going to turn that old truck into a rat rod of sorts.

If things work out for me....I will be tumbling to Texas at the end of this month.
Family member and his buddies plans to take me to the drag racing.
May get to look at some rat rods too.

Just got back from Texas had myself quite a time....Took that ride in a 1932 Ford with Chevy 427 blower and the 1985 Monte Carlo with a 509 big block.
Both are fast as grease lightning.

It been a real pleasure talking to you and hearing about your barb and of course the cats.... I wish you both the very best in your lives together....But as you well know all good things in life come to a end...So I leave you with this.
Yes, I am a widow was married to the same man for some 47 years...of those 47 years 20 of those years were spent with him as his nurse 24/7 until he decided to take that long nap. Loved the man heart and soul. A year passed uneventful for me.
Then one day I sitting in a crowded restaurant seating has run out and another man walks into my life quite by accident...He slides into the a chair asking if he can eat at my table...He strikes up the conversation...Both of us are widowed...adults...Exchanges take place...This relationship is taken slow and easy not rushing about it...We start to date and see each other...and began to progress with our plans for our future together. Then one day he drops by the house for coffee and conversation...and tells me that he going to go to the truck stop for us some rolls and him some smokes....The vary last thing the man does is turn and kiss me and says God I love you!! Then my small world get crushed again...The police are at my door asking me to identify him and I left with notifying his family that he been run over by a eighteen wheeler truck and the driver took off without stopping. The hit and run happened in broad daylight. The hunt began...Even I been on a hunt thru the many forums and any leads possible hoping for a slip or the tongue or a action...from any driver. Yes I have been looking for a man but not in the sense that some might think. I am looking for a killer.....I want justice done....The man who's last words were God I love you was a retired over the road truck driver. Now you know the story of why a woman like me would sit on a truck drivers forum for months...again coming to a dead end....By the way I am the same age as you Southern Fried and a bit too old for games...Well good luck and Good bye...It been a pleasure knowing you even if it was only on the internet forum.

I won't say I understand how you feel or even try to understand why your doing what your doing, but I admire your perseverance and commitment in seeing this to the end and I sincerely wish you every success in your endeavours...

Your some Lady...

Southern Fried;
What can you tell me about border crossings in the USA.....Most especially trucks coming out of Old Mexico into Texas and New Mexico...You got any knowledge in that department????

Nope, sorry. I ran for many years out of Canada into the US and back. Got to know the process pretty well. Even back then there were "horror stories" about dealing with Mexico and I've heard nothing since that would lead me to wanting anything to do with that cess-pool.

Thanks Southern Fried for the answer...Just thought I ask since you got all those years of driving experience and have most probably seen it all at one time or another...I tend to take advice from the ones that are old school if you know what I mean....I have been to Mexico many years ago and know about the cess-pool of the life styles there...Just thought you might know how a truck could get across a border with no license plate is all and most probably no paper work either. Sure cannot be legal for sure....as I seen one of these down in Texas a while back...
