Why?????

I am a penny pinchin woman....I tuck for rainy days.........My next car going to be a rat rod!!!!
Built from scrap. I already got a good start too in a 1948 chevy truck.
There is more than one way to lick the monkeys...that try to mess with me!

Lord, lord lord..... would love to see the finished product. :roflmao:

When I screwed up and lost everything my car-building came to a screeching halt. But I still have in my head a project I wanted to try. Involves a long T bucket type frame, a VW bug body and a blown big-block Chevvy engine. Figure it would take a good year to build right by myself. :D

Tons of paper work....I got this recall thing thru the mail about my car I been wheeling around now for some eleven years now...It is a safety recall notification I reading this thing....I have a defective sun visor on passenger side so they tell me but here the kicker they do not have the part to fix this sun visor. I am reading this thing about this sun visor and boom all of sudden I laughing cause I been driving this car for years with no problems....and after all this time there just now getting around to notify me....I am at this point asking what wrong with this picture...I figure it a way to get the car in a shop to make money that is number one...Number two while it in that shop something else will be found that needs to be fixed...And number three there not getting there hands on my wheels to fix nothing. When the hook is baited if it sound to good.... do not sample period. That goes for any product.
You can read them like a book, lol.Jiffy Lube is the same way.You go in for a simple oil change and a mechanic comes out with a slide and some gunk on it telling you it needs to be fixed, which is why I don't do my business there any longer.

Neither does anybody else. If such a tool existed you'd still be screwed cause nobody's had the 3 day computer course on which hand to hold it in. Then the goobermint would have to step in with counselling for the left-handed guys if the program says right hand use (and vice-versa). Then Jessie and Rev Al to protest why white folks were holding onto black tool handles, why the tool is black (or if it isn't why not). Then the Bi-handed folks would be offended and riot cause it's nobody's business whose tool they handle.

Aren't you ashamed of causing so much trouble???? You shoulda quietly traded it in for a new govt approved car like you're supposed to.

You looney, right-wing redneck racist Bush lover you. :biglaugh:
After looking at this screw which you need a flashlite because its in there a good 2 inches,it looks like they welded the screws .

Your generation's hippies???

Hmmm. I guess that's a compliment! Must not look my age!

Well hell, I didn't figure anybody could actually look that old.;) Lord knows I don't.:biglaugh:

So this lying stuff has been around a bit.

Thass true, but go look at the periods when it was so institutionalized as it is becoming today. (Hint, Stalin's Russia, Hitler's Germany)

What you're upset about is how things haven't exactly turned out the way you'd like them to be. Sorry, we don't always get that. I'm sure those 50,000-or-so young souls who put their lives down for the "defense of freedom" in the Nam might feel a bit short-changed about how things turned out too. I'll bet every young man and woman who deployed to the sand box is wondering about exactly what they and those who didn't walk off a freedom bird bought with their blood too. Must be some more of those lies.

As have every other "survivor" of every "great war". What do you think the Centurions thought as they watched the Roman Empire dissolve around them? For that matter talk to ex-Red Army soldiers about Afghanistan. All of them ask "For what did we die?".

War has always been "The Big Lie".

Come to think of it, I recall hearing some of this stuff the first time I grew my hair a little long back in '68. How I'd been lied to by some liberal... must have been Mr Leary back then.

Of course, were still here. Cooler heads must have prevailed.

Mr Leary and a good many others. Look deeply into the "Progressives" by whatever label they wear. Their mantra is and always has been "One World Ruled Under Us" Sound familiar?

But anyhow, this part of the "argument" belongs in the political forum. Start a thread there and I'll happily debate you.

Back to the "throwaway junk", it's more fun.:D

I bought the Mrs a 2014 Mazda2 because her old 98 Civic wore out. Nice enough little car and it fits her perfectly. She loves the thing.

But, in place of what used to be simple replaceable switches, etc it has the "multi-functional" stalks on the steer column and multiple buttons on the wheel. Don't even mention a radio which would confuse a F-16 pilot (she never uses one anyways). Ain't no way in hell I could "back yard fix" any of that stuff should it go "tits up".

What worries me a bit is the "complexity". She's learning the useages slowly but I have caught her a couple of times looking down at the control while moving. What the heck are the "advantages" of "improving" a simpler system that worked just fine? :confused-96:

AAAggghhh.... wish I could go back to building my own cars.

Maybe some time soon that may happen. I bought him...1948 chevy truck for a $100.00 bucks with clear title. I told you I am a penny pinchin woman....Some will claim with no brains....Cause I was told what you want something like that for any how. Nothing is missing on him and has it all...motor v6 and standard shift tranny....What it needs is the motor mount and interior work and new glass all the way around. Some new tires too.

Back in the day 100.00 could get you a lot of miles for that vehicle but today you would be lucky if it would make it around the block.

Back when I built me a 72 Chevy pickup (hot 283 I built, full shift kit automatic, etc.etc) I made a little sign for the tailgate..... If You Gotta Ask "Why" You Wouldn't Understand The Answer!!! Feel free to use it. :D

V6??? You using the 4.3? If so, swap it out for a V8. 4.3's are a total pig on gas. :p

It came with the v 6. I will think on this.... I also bought repair manuals and ask around about paint for it too...One of my son's buddies does some grand painting. I seen his work and it is craftmans work at it finest.

Tip,,,, doing the interior of that pickup. If you're using a bench seat, get out a measuring tape and check widths. Then go to the junkyards and check seats on some Ford "luxury" cars. I swapped into my 72 a bench seat from a Ford LTD. Split bench power adjust with fold-down armrest. Hadda make some new bracket holes and such in the floor. But one thing Ford always done good was seats. Cooooomfy!!! Usually have pretty good quality seat cover material too.

I am pretty careful what I get into....I switched my Chrysler over to synthetic motor oil...with crossed fingers!
I have a love of old junk....Believe me I got a bunch too. lol at myself!

I haven't worked with the "new paints", but don't do black. The bodywork prep has to be perfect with black or it will show any little flaw like a sore thumb. That's why it's so expensive to do. Prep makes or breaks any paint job and is very labor and time intensive (and booooring). But with a truck like that you're going to want to attend some car shows/cruises. Don't want to look like somebody's "poor cousin".;)

When you're thinking paint, check out motorcycle colors. They have some spectacular hues that you won't find in a car color book.

Pleeeeease don't do "flat black". I don't care if Grease Monkey thinks it's cool. It still looks like you was just too lazy to go past black primer. Notice how they lose their butt every time they take one of their "cool black" cars to the auctions. Dumb azzes. Hell, even "The Chief" repainted that ugly GTO "Crow". :D

Oh, I hear that. At one point I had 20 engines "in stock" (including 2 complete 59 392ci in Hemis) that I was "gonna use someday". A full benchload of heads (including a set of super-rare 57 283 Fuelies) and god knows how many Quadrajet, Carter and Holley carbs. Much of that went in the Auction as "Odd lots" for $100 or less per bunch. Made me sick.

Thanks for the tip....No yards here but sometimes son and myself go to Pueblo, Colorado know where all those yards are there. We get in a junk yard or auction we both in pig heaven. lol Son got his project too...restoring a old 58 Ford pick up. Between the both of us maybe we can get some good seats for them both.

No black negative....When I go to that kind of expense....I going to look at what I consider color. A color that will enhance the chrome. I like the deep wine reds or maybe a turquoise colors.

I am jealous of many of the new basecoat/clearcoat paints that give that "inches deep" finish that look like you could stick your finger into them. In the old Laquer paints that "depth" took many, many hours of "hand rubbed" paint coats followed by the same in clear. B/C is much tougher too.

Check out... http://www.houseofkolor.com/ for some "exotics.

I think it that had been me going threw what you did..... you just have to take me out and shoot me....Get it over with.
I bought a holly carb for my son's firebird and payed a small fortune for it...Then he wanted a special clutch for it and that came to a fortune too.
