to bad ford said screw it and put diesel engines in the ranger and sent it to australia because they didn't want to comply to the us safety standards.. that was a great truck and you could drive it into the ground
i did like mine, 2WD, V-6, (3.0), but it sucked up the gas faster than a cheap crack ho in Philly.

My 1989 Ranger has a 2.9 V6 with a 5 speed stick.

It gets about 25 on the highway.

I want to put the 4.0 engine in it. Not the early pushrod one, but the OHC version.

And I want to go to the junkyard & take everything from the spindles outward from a 1997 Ranger. It'll swap over to mine. They went with larger wheels in that year and therefore had to upgrade the brakes to a larger rotor & dual piston calipers. But my 14" rims will still fit.

On the rear I can get disc brakes if I use a 1993 Ford Explorer axle but it would require cutting the leaf spring saddles off the bottom & weld them on the top. And take the master cylinder from the Explorer too. Too much hassle.

But the '89 does have inferior front calipers. They tend to seize.

I remembered some of them once talking at one of the tracks about fuel....I had to go look it up I not that smart on some things....But here it is. I am more of a watcher of events.
Why race-car drivers love methanol - Fuel Freedom

I hate my S10.

Haha how come?
Because it's been driven by big guys most of its life and it doesn't fit me. It sits low enough to make me feel intimidated on the freeway, it's underpowered and there's a hitch in the rear when you apply or lift off the accelerator.

I still have the stupid thing. It's a '99XTreme. But I basically "gave" it to my guy so he can have it at his shop to use for running after parts.

Bought a '98 Sierra yesterday. I like it a lot more.
