Update and request Airlines Communications
I emailed two of the airlines (ceos) last night. One was not a good address. When I have more time, I will continue. The one that might have been successful was to United and/or Continental Airlines. This is an FYI so that we do not duplicate efforts. I think those who are working on the goal's, time is better spent this way. If anyone else has their email addresses and are able to send them the flyer prefaced with a request for them to pull together to reform the oil markets and solve this growing problem, please just keep communicating here what you have done so that we can work like a team, and someone else can get the next ones, etc. Thanks.

What happened to the upcoming AUGUST 27th national protest??? The airlines cannot or will not get behind the people on this one? It isn't a your site, or a my site, it is an everyone's fight TOGETHER, I thought... Why aren't we UNITED each step of the way????... EACH STEP OF THE WAY, big or baby steps!
I do remember you, Mark. You posted all of the numbers we offered for the "17", and the event. Matt had a beautiful background behind the display on his website - that is support and unity. Did we blow up their/our phone circuits by jamming their lines with calls?...no, but we sure tried on our end. We passed on some of those email addresses for the next person who can use them in our joint efforts - UNITY!
Maybe I am confused, and not one shred of offense intended, just clarity. We don't have any competition in the gas price reduction mission, with who does what - I DON'T CARE. I only want our government hit full force with our energy and efforts of demands, each demand that will help STOP this ripping off of the American People, yet if we cannot all ram at the same times...correction, maybe I am just confused and tired. I would just like complete unity with each and every endeavor and step.

well on the 27th most all states are at recess and vacations we have learned that from after dc comes back into session because of an electrion year they are going back on break the 26th of sept until after election time so we need to put the pressure on hard before election only when they are there to see us
the 27th is way too loosly organized i'm sorry but you can not just post on a web site and then go to work and think everyone is going to see it

we have grown in big time numbers bro and are working with women in trucking.org the 11 air lines with sos (which is probably going to foot the parking bill in dc this time) and a lot of other people
we are vewry good friends with even lockridge on sirius radio road dog trucking show and also with steve sommers
we can get the word out not just by postinmg on a web site we actually have otr drivers meeting with many people every day getting them involved
that is why we went with a membership not for the $$$ but to show the numbers we have and how strong we can be

This post is only to point out the justification for the date which has been chosen to protest state capitals and the flaw in returning to D.C. days before the adjournment of the 2nd session of the 110th Congress.
The date y'all have decided upon is the appropriate one. As pointed out by Mark, Congress is on break. Where do they go when they're on break?..back to their home state. Your date coincides with the national conventions as well. What better time to take it to the state capitals than when representatives are most likely to be present? And the majority of American citizens which can't afford to go to D.C., but could possibly muster up the financing to get to their state capital, could actually participate in speaking out to their representative.
Returning to D.C. may have possibilities...dependent upon what happens before hand. I have declined to return for one reason...nothing has been accomplished from the last trip to D.C. What progress we had made has been buried in committees with no light at the end of the tunnel. To return, in my opinion, would be an expensive futile effort. We must take action as a nation and speak out...become active and vote. Remove those representatives up for re-election this November - demonstrating to the remaining representatives they must begin to act in the best interest of American citizens, or they too will be removed at the next elections when their seats come up.
I don't mean to piss on anybody's parade, but showing up 3 days before the date Mark states for the adjournment of our administrative branch, has little hope for success. I don't know where the date Mark states comes from...Congress's schedule indicates the adjournment date as "To Be Annonunced"...but never the less, the last trip was 3 months before they took their summer break and what have they done...nothing. Does anyone honestly believe this current Congress is going to do something in 3 days? They have consistently demonstrated this year their refusal to get anything done for professional drivers or the American people, which has lead to the lowest approval rating ever. Serious evaluation of how we're going to need to deal with this current administration leads me to believe we will only get true action from our representatives with our vote this November. Unless we come together and actually shut our country down...our vote is the only ammunition we have.
This post is not meant to be arguementative. It's only to give my input...my opinion. Stay strong in your efforts. Everyone involved here knows we're doing more than just posting to my site.

I too feel the need to respond to Mr. Kirsch, and I hope I can be as tactful as SS has been in doing so. First of all, we picked the date of Aug. 27th for a specific reason, because all the state legislators would be at home on break. Home with the people they are supposed to be working for. The date calls for local protests at the State & City level. State capitols, local cities, where the people can afford to get to and have themselves seen and heard. Not having to make an expensive trip to DC. It was PLANNED that way, with the people's expenses in mind. We have been very open and very vocal about what is planned and when it is planned for. Have you or anyone from your organization even once stepped up and given your support to this effort. NO. Yet you come here and expect everyone here to support your date in Sept. that I might ad was picked and posted well after the date of Aug. 27th was agreed to by us and everyone here. I, unlike SS, don't see any benefit to you making another trip to DC in Sept.. We all can readily see the great changes that were accomplished after your first trip there. Absolutely Nothing. A couple of committees were organized to talk for awhile. You said in your post that you are a great leader and always have been. Nothing like patting yourself on the back with Both Hands no less. It seems to me, that your first trip to DC was way less than expected, in attendance and in accomplishments. I can't help believing that that was due to poor Leadership & poor Organization. I can't help wondering what happened to your Great Leadership Skills. You and your organization keep talking about trips to DC like it is just a short trip down the road for everyone. Truth is, it is for you, only a couple hours away from you in Pa.. How about all the people all over the rest of the country? Where do you suppose all the people in the midwest and the west coast and the south are going to come up with enough money to show up in Pa. and then turn around and follow you to DC. from there? Leadership????? Our plan of attack and our date of attack display much better leadership skills, much better planning, and by far much better organization. It is a workable and affordable plan for everyone in the country, not just the people in the northeast. I don't even want to go into your comments on PERMITS. If I did, it would only stir up an argument from you and that would get absolutely nothing accomplished. I am hoping that once you sit down and think all of this through, you will, as a Great Leader, come to see the more beneficial aspects of the Aug. 27th date for localized protests and step up to help us with your full support. If you truly feel this isn't a fight that you want to involve yourself and your organization in, all I can say is "Have An Awesome Day" and enjoy your next wasted trip to DC in Sept.

Not for nothing but, going after the house while their home is kinda pointless. After all were waiting on Nancy Pelosi for a vote on drilling. But it seems the country has to wait, she's to busy on vacation pushing her new book then to care that the whole country needs a answer. And if the airlines said they would work with truckers, my interpretation would be that the truckers can work with the airlines, not the other way around.
Granted I haven't had the chance to stop by here for a while and this is the first thread I happened to read. But it looks as if there's still a need for a SINGLE leader for all this. Perhaps let the airline lead this, and listen to what they have to say and think truckers should do to AID them. And trying to contact CEO's of major US carriers is gonna be tough. ( I was a supervisor for 10 yrs for a major airline, trust me, you'll never find Grienstiens ( DL CEO ) true email. There's a few people to go through first. ) If I was gonna try working my way up to get a major carrier on the phone I would start with the little guys that charter for the big boys. Such as Allegheny ( ?spelling), ASA, ACA or even a privet charter airline. And just another thought, anyone talk to railroad, bus/coach transport or big taxi cab companies, maybe cruise lines, large and small? IDK just another thought I had to be ignored. Peace, good luck.

IDK let me see what I come up with. If you have any emails you sent or ad's and anything that I can help with email them to me and any info to help.

we are already working with the airlines in this whole dc trip they were just on the weekly conference call tonight getting involved and paying for the parking and also meeting with reps with us
we have meetings set up already for our reps the following day of this rally in fromt of us congress and senators
also we have many congressman and woman going to be there with us the day of the rally in dc
oh by the way i guess fuel hasn't been dropping and i guess all the things that happened through the world weren't from the things that were started here huh hey what ever

This is a bit of my opinion on the (minute) downward prices - I believe that the people have conserved every drop possible, especially those hit the hardest with the pillaging at the pumps by greedy big oil pigs - Bush/Cheney's friends and then we have our do nothing congress... I am trying to be fair and not political, or biased, make no mistake about that - I don't have the stomach for it. Personally, I drew my own line in the sand...cut way back and have changed my pedal to the metal habits and we have foregone a couple of distance vacations for the sake of everyone. NOT MEANT AS BOASTING, I drive so little, that I have so little to give/conserve on my end. I hope every little bit counts.
I believe that due to the truckers and all other related driving jobs having been put out of work, there was an obvious decrease in usage, dropping demands.
It does not matter to me who does what, but WE need to get 'er done ASAP, and RAMP DOWN these fuel costs...do you have those connections? If so, make those phone calls.

sorry folks but it looks like the same ol shi* just a different day, no one is agreeing to anything,too many dates out there,lots of names being dropped but nothing from the actual people being talked about, hints about big things in the wind but no concrete evidence, I have said it time and time again the groups need to put on a united front,make a plan of action and then stick with the plan, changes every few days are doing nothing but cause people to lose interest, sorry I am on the sidelines until I see something that is well thought out and supported by a lot more than the few sites that put forth a plan without regard to what another group is doing. Only then will i put in time and money to support it.
SS has been putting info out there but seems to be doing as I am and taking a wait and see approach
TACU you got some good ideas but you change strides in midstream and and there are more states than Pa. and Ny. that need to be involved if anything is to be done.
i have listened to Steve Sommers on his take last spring when we tried to shut things down and he was not at all helpful, and the other things being hinted about that is a happening if you want us to support something you are going to have to be much more foreard with the information .
as far as Toby Keith and Willy Nelson how about them coming out and saying they are on board and will be there with us,sorry you saying it is so isn't making it so we all need something more concrete.
don't promise things that cannot be delivered,remember how the DC thing went everyone was promised and looking for thousands possibably hundreds of thousands the truckers,the media the politicians were all primed and ready for something big and when only a few hundred showed up we looked very weak
not flaming just pointing out mistakes made before that look like they might be repeated.
