What’s your daily driver and project vehicles?

Looks like you could use some air shocks. I got a pair to put on my navigator this weekend.
I'd put air bags or an equalizer on it long before air shocks.

It's a 9,000+ load. Hell. The excavator alone is 7600 lbs. Of course it's going to squat.

I didn't figure you'd be a big enough spender for air bags. 😂

I put air bags under my F-150 but wasn't in the mood to spend that for the Navigator so I got some $33 air shocks from Amazon Warehouse Deals.

Your shock mounts aren't designed for the load you'd put on them for air shocks.

My truck s load rated for 13,500.

I don't care if it's a 350 a 550 or a 650.

Shock mounts are not designed for the load carrying requirements of air shocks.

But hey, knock yourself out if that's what you want to do.

Your half ton is not rated for 13,500. That's probably your GCVWR. Doesn't mean you can tow that much. Half tons of your era max out around 8800 towed. That's for a 2WD.

There's no such thing as a "load carrying requirement."

They wouldn't make the damn things if the mounts weren't up to the task.

Furthermore, you don't HAVE to fully load a vehicle just because it can do it. And you have no idea WTF I got them for. All you know is they're for my Navigator.

I know a thing or two about towing. There is no debate. You're overloaded and air shocks are valid, but they still won't increase capacity.

Geez, just look at the studs they go on.
Standard large suspension bolts. Similar to those used to hold the rest of the vehicle together...

I don't know the grade but they can hold the vehicle. That's their purpose.

Seriously an air shock prevents sag. It doesn't do anything more than the regular shock does, except compress less because it has air in it.

You can't tow more with them. Mndriver is overloaded no matter what. But if you put 700lbs of tongue weight as 10% of your truck's 7000lb trailer capacity, it'll keep that 700lbs level. That's all. It won't give your 7000lb rated vehicle the ability to suddenly pull 10000lbs. That isn't what they're for. Heck that isn't even what air bags are for.

Pickups aren't any different from class 8 highway trucks. Your axles still have weight ratings. I agree, that manufacturers don't really give out max tow ratings. The commercials of them pulling huge boats and job site loads are garbage, they let retards think they can pull mountains.

My F350 rear axle I think is 5900 or 6900 pounds. Empty gross with a gooseneck deckover is about 13,500. If I load a 10K tractor, I can scale legal at 23.5k but I have to keep the load farther back on the trailer so I don't go over any axles weight ratings.

But what do you or I know.

I'd sell everything and rock that IH pickup.
Time,money and storage. Lol
I begrudgingly have gotten rid of 17 project vehicles after realizing I could never finish them all....
Sold them to young guys who had that same look in their eyes that I once had.
Had big plans..............Oh well............
That's life........

I feel like I have too many and it's nowhere near that many or that involved.

But I got the motivation to do the Navigator suspension right away. Hopefully with better weather I'll get out in the garage more.

I've already bought what I need for most of them, just gotta find a combination of time and desire. Dreary weather saps me of desire.
