Wabash National making 790 Indiana layoffs permanent

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Wabash National Corp. has told nearly 800 workers who were laid off over the winter that it does not expect to recall them.

The Lafayette-based truck-trailer manufacturer notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of the decision May 1, saying the decision was prompted by declining demand projections for new trailers.

In case anyone was interested, the assembly workers made $13 -$14 an hour.
