Uber Freight Now Demanding ELD Access To Haul Their Loads

It was announced 3 weeks ago that they were seeking $500 Million in funding, I'm guessing this is something that potential investors are wanting to see.

And, the estimated times of arrival (ETAs) are now able to offer customers real-time predictions of when their orders will arrive. In turn, customers can now rate their load experience from 1 to 5 stars, the blog post states.

Guess they need to do this in order to better offer this to their shippers/receivers.

I figure the way the insurance companies are pushing it, a bunch of sheeple are willingly giving them GPS data to save a few cents. That's likely coming to trucking in big way very soon.

Give it a few years and no insurance company will cover you at all unless you install their tracking devices.

I haven't signed the new contract yet, but more than likely will the next time I see a load I desperately want from Uber.

Before my driving days are over, every broker will be tied into the ELD in some form or fashion. Almost all of the tracking apps now can integrate into many of the ELD's, and I have a few brokers that now only track me that way rather than having to sign into an app.

I don't mind, but just as I said when talking to @mndriver , I will soon be having one dedicated device tied into my ELD other than my phone or personal tablet. I don't really fear my information getting compromised, but at the same time I don't need to be taking unnecessary risks.

The digital age has found it's way to the trucking industry. I know some will fight it kicking and screaming as long as possible, most will simply complain and make threats on social media, but in the end, this will be 100% industry wide.
