As a comedian once said, "Of course there are starving people in Africa. MOVE! We have deserts in America too. We just don't live there!"
Unfortunately, that statement is glaringly ridiculous in light of what we have built in the desert southwest.

Yes, the millions of people who have chosen various parts of Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico to live really don't have a clue what it takes to make those areas habitable.

Surely you jest.
They built the Boulder dam with capitalist investment rather than tax money from the gov't?
They built those dams and canals, water, sewer and irrigation systems with private investor money rather than taxes collected?
Are you sure about that?
Now, I know who is profiting from all that infrastructure. I guess that is more redistribution of money taken from middle class and being distributed to the few at the top.

Every hydroelectric dam on the Mighty Columbia River was built with taxpayer dollars. The Great Hoover Dam (nee Boulder Dam) was built with taxpayer money, and as a project to employ out of work people during the Great Depression.

Canals and irrigation projects, public water systems, public utilities all were created by, and are supported by public funds.

Most of the nations highways and roads are built with tax dollars, and repaired and maintained by those same monies. Even the toll roads are funded through public money. Does anyone here think that the tolls collected come from private investors?

Some, but not all, coal fired power plants, and some, but not all nuclear power plants are publicly owned.
