TV IN THE TRUCK

you don't have to be in the sticks for the new digital signal to not reach you...my parents live in the sticks in AR and the converter boxes worked but my son lives in Bartlesville OK (in town) and the signal as not good to non existence at his location....he found a web-site that showed where the signal worked and where it didn't...he told us to not bother about trying to get signal at our not so rural location in MO....our address can not pick up the new digital signal.......GREAT thank you to the powers that be ho thought this would be ohhhh so great.....so we just watch movies in the truck...our son gave up and got cable and is going to give us his box for the truck.........

I DISCOVERED THAT ALL MY CHANNELS ARE ON CHANNEL LOCK I SENT EMAIL TO SUPPORT AND THY WANT ME TO CALL THEM SO THY CAN HELP ME FIX THE PROBLEM TOO MUCH TO DO THRU EMAIL IWILL CALL THEM AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP

I have an older tv and one of those converter boxes I got with the coupon before the "change". I got the box to use at home but I live so far out in the sticks that I didn't get anything, so I tried it in my truck.

Like 2xR said earlier, I have to scan for channels every time I stop for the day, but scans usually only take a minute or two.

The number of channels has varied from 3 or 4 to about 30, but often there are duplicate channels, some in HD, SD, etc. and at some places I don't get anything, like at home.

I have found that position and direction the truck is pointing makes a big difference and that several things can interfere with reception. Other trucks moving through the parking lot cause dropouts in reception and even using my cell phone can disrupt the signal.

I almost always park nose in at the back row of the lot so other rigs don't interfere with reception (and my hood doesn't get torn off), but past experience with a particular truck stop will dictate just where I will choose to park.

The antenna in my truck is built into the roof of the cab/sleeper, for what it is worth.

Overall I can't complain, I get to catch the Cup races sometimes (I am watching the Phoenix race right now) and other times I tune into something that provides that mind numbing white noise in the background.

I would like to see Mark Martin win the title this year so he can retire at the very top of his game.

Also drove a Winston West hauler during the 1991 and 1992 seasons and was front tire changer during the pit stops. Lotsa fun!

Actually I like most all forms of :swerve:motor sport, and have been road racing :beep:for over 20 years. I was ICSCC/SCCA regional champion in 1997 in the Pacific Northwest in E Production and have been runner up in GT2 several times.

Alright let's get back on topic. Has pat1247 solved the digital converter box reception issue yet?

Something of note here, even though this is an old thread.

I am at the Pilot on the South side of Olympia, WA this weekend.

When I was here last time there was only one parking spot so I took it. I fired up the TV and converter box and did a scan. Nothing. I took a chance on loosing my parking spot and managed to get the truck turned around and back into the same spot, just pointed the other way. Still nothing.

So I had dinner, watched something on the internet via Hulu and went to bed.

Yesterday I found myself back at this place. I had many choices for parking so I tried a different spot on the other side of the parking lot. Still nothing.

This morning I needed to drop the trailer and run into town for some things, and when I backed out to turn around I noticed a spot at the end of the aisle was open so I backed in there and dropped the trailer. When I got back from the store I backed under the trailer and hooked up. Then for grins I did a channel scan.

You guessed it, I got 8 channels.

And I am only 4 spaces away from the place where I parked the last time I was here.

It shows that position is everything, and just because you don't get channels in one spot doesn't mean that you won't get them in another.

I know it,is'nt that weird how that works.You could only move a few feet and BOOM great reception.

TV or Wi-Fi... you either have to get an antenna above the height of the trucks, or, get the right bounce off the side of a truck. Sometimes you get the right bounce, unknowingly, and, you say, "Wow!! Great reception." Other times, there's no hope.

Yeah, I get the right bounce off the side of a truck and then that truck pulls out, and *poof*, no more TV.

Oh yes many times..Worthington,MN for instance.I parked next to some grass mainly for my dog and no reception.She did her job then I moved closer to the trks and great reception.But sometimes whenever a trk is driving by I lose reception.

So you have experienced this too?
