Tony Lama, as Good as They Used to be?

25 years ago I got my first pair of Tony Lama boots, they were built like tanks- the leather shaft and outer-soul were both "full grain leather" ... now I see their advertisements and the specks on their website- the shaft is still full grain leather, however the tops of the boot are "leather lined" one store had top grail leather then for the outersoul "genuine leather"
Does anyone know what is going on with the rest of the boot?
Thanks
Will

No but my last ( and I do mean last ) pair of "Georgia Boots" came from friggin Croatia. Five years and still holding up though. Maybe the Bolshevik's did an all right job.

Welcome to the board, someone around here will be fond of the cockroach killers:stirpot:

I have a pair of Brahma bull skin Tony Lamas that I bought in 1987....They've been re soled a few times, they still wear well and are comfortable.
I looked at some Tony' Lamas last year, but they don't even look to be good quality anymore.

I have a couple of pair of Lucchese boots, they are excellent quality....Kind's spendy though.
