Thermo King Tripac issue

Why? If I continue being a jerk, you'll do the work for me. o_O Besides, I have real work ta do. Serious beer what needs ta be thrown down before hittin' the road in the A of M.

11th Commandment: Thou shalt not waste fine beer.

:D

My guess it it's probably overheating. It's not designed to run while the truck is in motion. The TP I had at Prime was wired and programmed to shut off when the truck engine was running.

I had a loser Shaker, too. Same model as IP's, if I'm thinking of the right truck.

Doubtful... ',09 Crapcadia, but its paid for.

With the additional cooling mass of the engines system, I don't think it would be overheating, but its possible and would throw an engine (ENG) code.

The other question I'd have is whether the valve in the integrated coolant system is open. You'd be surprised how often mechanics will close them without thinking about it and then just forget to open them back up.

You have it wired incorrectly. There is a relay that energizes the moment you turn the ignition key on which disconnects the hot to the tripac. It's meant to run independently. I don't think it's two alternators causing the problem as the are set up parallel to one another. You are just pumping more amps. What I think is happening is the fuel line is "T-ed" into the trucks fuel line. When you start the truck the truck has the stronger fuel pump and higher demand so it's dropping the fuel pressure to the tripac. It's kind of hard for that little fuel pump to win a tug of war against the truck's fuel pump. Kind of similar to a clogged fuel filter is how it should be behaving. To remedy that and keep your truck Obama rigged, lol, then run the tripac fuel line straight to one of the tanks.

Turn the tripac off and then back on. As the head unit comes back to life it will display the code. The code will lead you in the right direction.

The AC systems are independent of each other too. The black condenser fan on the back of the cab will verify this. Think about it, how is your truck's AC compressor going to turn?

I am going to take a stab and say that your Pre-Cooler Fan is shot.

F10 15A Pre-Cooler Fan Motor Circuit

One way to tell is to look at your F10 fuse and see if it is blown or not.

but then again, I'm only reading the Diagnostic manual too.
