Yesterday, as a matter of fact. Apparently he is/was in the hospital, respiratory emergency. Had to communicate via text because he said it's painful to talk. Cripes. I had no idea what was going on, he hasn't returned texts or calls in over a month. Stubborn old buzzard is determined to live his reputation as a hermit.

Something nobody can ever prepare you for in school, blowing a steer tire at 70mph. Holy hell, that'll wake you up. It's a weird sensation I'd like to never experience again. I'm very grateful that the weather was good and traffic wasn't heavy, and that I actually had a shoulder to provide a landing spot. I had to violate HOS to get to the closest spot to park, but I'll take it. The alternatives could have been much worse. Thanks to Jimmy (or Kenny maybe?) from the Petro in Brazil IN. Great service, hard worker. As luck would have it, the closest exit with parking is a restaurant with a dirt lot for trucks. And they serve beer. Man did I want one after today. Cheers y'all. Hope all of your days were better (and less scary) than mine.

It didn't, but somehow managed to tear the access door off my APU. I don't quite understand the physics of how that happened, but whatever.

Reason number 51892 why I hate this place. It's 13:30 and I'm 90 minutes away from my delivery. Landstar calls to let me know I've been selected for a random drug/alcohol test. I have to be there no later than 6pm. If I don't get there in time, my lease will be terminated. You have GOT to be kidding me. Had three conversations with folks in that department letting them know where I stood on time and ETAs, but they wouldn't change it to tomorrow. Christ. I barely made it, had 10 minutes to spare. I cussed them up one side and down the other and let them know I called my lawyer with a possible wrongful termination suit (which I actually did) and they still wouldn't move it to tomorrow morning. Ok, F you then. Let's roll the dice and see what happens. Luckily I made it. My lawyer almost seemed pissed, I think his mouth was watering. If they had called me in the morning, everything woulda been cool, I could've made arrangements for my delivery. But that's not what they did. PLUS, this situation put me at risk for back-to-back nights with an HOS violation. That didn't matter to them either, still had to go. Thankfully the folks at the clinic were sympathetic and moved me through quickly, no HOS violation (just barely). This place is unbelievable, not gonna miss one second of this trash heap when I'm gone. Both middle fingers up when I walk out the door and a smile on my face.

I'm gonna ask you a really dumb question that I could probably Google. But is Salty Dog a chain? Went to a place called Salty Dog like 30 years ago when I was on vacation with my parents. Virginia Beach or something like that. Too long ago to remember.
P.S. Now I remember, it was Hilton Head. Musta been a splurge for them, because they let me bring a friend. It was a beautiful spot. People and the resulting traffic have no doubt ruined that place by now, but it was a fantastic memory.

No this particular one is locally owned. I dunno if the ones down south or east coast are or not.
Hilton Head is still pretty decent I used to live not far from there.
