The Island of Misfit Toys


I sure fucking hope not, don't feel like it anymore, at least not for the immediate future.

Nobody has said anything, just found it in my mail slot when I went in, but ya know how it seems to go for me, thus the reason I applied to a different company a few weeks ago where I would be getting home every night.

But considering there are currently 22 of us working out of my yard and my truck is now only the 2nd to get one I'd say the odds are pretty good....
 
Today started fantastic, but I didn't get to have the super trucker moment I was hoping for. Got my load delivered early, made it to the next load as soon as they opened. Loaded fast, and then off to the receiver. Holy shi* what a joke. At my pickup, I weighed empty and loaded, BOLs showed both weights on the back page. Get to the final and I'm told that before they unload me I have to drive 5 miles away to another one of their facilities to scale and print a ticket. Then go back and unload. AND THEN go BACK to that GD scale and reweigh and print ANOTHER GD TICKET and bring it back to them before they'll release my signed BOL. Dude...wtf? Never going there again, believe that. Lost an hour of time and burned at least 4 gallons of diesel for absolutely nothing. A*&holes.
 
Lol it was to long of a day. Finished up the day and am 230 miles away from my final.
Things weren’t jiving total trip miles were 788 but I drove over 610 miles. Worked myself in a tizzy thinking I’m getting ripped off, until I remembered I drove for about an hour this morning with my previous load.
 
Delivery today turned into a crane unload. In the rain. Fun times. Fuck around in Montreal traffic to get reloaded, get two pieces on, fight Montreal traffic to get out of there.

Dispatch says rug it back home to load a wide piece in the morning. Fer fuck sakes we’re 500 miles away I can’t just “pop round the corner” and be in the yard.

Totally blew my 16 hour day, racked up another log violation. Gonna take my 8 off and hit it in the morning. I want to stop by the welding shop, grab a shower and be back in town by 8 am to grab my permits so I can roll with my fat ass legally

Managed to make it more or less unscathed home, one random pylon left a battle scar. Managed to avoid any Brampton driver tom-fuckery though, all the Pinder Ditchfinder folks with the funny hats must’ve been dozing tonight

Long days, short nights...that’s trucking :cautious:

One day only permit. That’s kind of unusual. But maybe the office requested that.

Can’t go through downtown before 6:00 pm, unless you want to hire an escort. “Shouldn’t” run after it gets dark without reflective banners, which I don’t own. But hey, I’m only 12’ wide, piece of cake.

The best part? Dispatch handed me a google maps print out of my permitted route....then says to me: “You can’t follow the turns on there, there’s a couple wrong turns it wants you to take” :cautious:

Well then why hand it to me? :coocoo:

So basically, with no time to study the route, I’ve got one shot at about a two hour window to drag a 12’ wide piece through downtown streets with a map I can’t trust ....what can go wrong? :D

Everything has already gone wrong, it's smooth sailing from here on out.
 
First time in over 3 years since I started, had a hard brake situation. I don't drive like a moron so I'm never in a position to have that happen. But it did, and with a hazmat load. I immediately found a place to pull over and check the load, all was well. Dumb*as four wheeler locked 'em up in front of me and I had nowhere to go. Load was fine, moved on. Then it happened again... god I hate Ohio drivers. Never gonna leave this state because I love it here. But my people suck. Load is still fine but I'm gonna be driving 5 under for the rest of this trip. Jesus, Ohio... are you putting retard juice in the tap water, wtf? I'll stand by this statement, Ohio has the worst drivers on the road.

I’m in Tennessee so you have one less Ohioan to worry about. It’s funny you say Ohio drivers suck. My trainer was from Wisconsin he would say the same thing.

Now that I’m driving more it always cracks me up when I’m in a different state and the idiot driver in front of me has Ohio plates.
