The American Driver - Post Your Comments Here

Let me start with some general comments I have toward the organzation, and the website itself, so everyone knows what the purpose is here.

Website
  • Layout is very bad
    • I go to their homepage, and I then have to click to go to their actual homepage, or the one other option that contains information about the shutdown. The actual homepage should give me access to get to any area I want.
    • Finding information is far too difficult. If I didn't know there was a shutdown, I might never find any information on the site about it.
  • Site is very slow loading
Overall, for an organization like this, an investment needs to be made to put together a professional looking website, where information is much easier to navigate through and find.

The banners running down the side of the forum for all the trucking companies and such give me the feel that I am at truck.net. I don't think an organization that is leading a shutdown should have the banners of companies listed that are not participating in the shutdown.

Organization
  • Who are the representatives for each state? If it is listed, why can't I find it?
  • Which States still need representation? Where does one go to find out the duties involved and apply?
  • Mission Statement and Bylaws - Where is this, and if it doesn't exist, it needs to rather quickly.
Overall

I was told that this organization was being established to support all drivers, truckers and non-truckers. We need that kind of representation, and a solid voice that will make sure the public is heard.

The concerns that I have heard is that the staff isn't properly following up on requests by people to represent States, and many are concerned that the organization is more concerned with making money than actually accomplishing the goal. These aren't my words, these are comments made to me on more than one occasion, which is why we have this thread.

You have my thoughts above, now let's hear others as well.
Damn good point Moose, i also do web design and web hosting and the issue with the american driver site that i seen was that it is to cluttered to much information on the index page makes you look to hard to find exactly what you are looking for......cPanel Hosting and Reseller Hosting by TransWorld Hosting Solutions thats my hosting and design site

:pissed:Well, I was just at the American Driver website looking around, and I noticed something that really pissed me off. After all the hard work and help we tried to give them, and all the backing we tried to give them, They Don't Even Have The Decency To Post Us here at Truckers Forum As A Link on their damn website. Now that really pisses me off. We've been sending people to their site, I have signs and posters with their site address all over them.

We had a link to our site on their website, maybe it was removed for some reason? I haven't been there in a couple days but I will take a look when I get a chance.

It is still linked here:

Forum Links
All this does is link you to the April 1st Strike Thread that has been "closed". Great link, huh? Check it out for yourself. Would you really be intereted in a site link that sends you to a closed thread? I don't think so. Why isn't there a link to the Truckers Forum Home Page. Isn't that the normal and proper way to link to a Forum website? :headscratch:

Better Late Than Never...

Gentlemen and Ladies,

I must apologize for my ignorance to this excellent forum thread. I will admit I've had an over-full plate the last 5 weeks trying to keep up with the growth of this movement.

I have read all your posts and will incorporate your feedback into the site page. I do hope that the change from the first page layout to the php page layout has been in a positive direction...I do realize that there's a lot of room for improvement, and your suggestions and feedback will be seriously taken into account.

Bandit...my sincerest apologies for your link-up being lost amongst the structure of my first pages layout structure. I came into this at a very late date and was trying to absorb, build and relay so much information, that it really did turn out pretty bad. But as with anything I do...I learn from my mistakes, hold my head up high and carry on with the tasks at hand. I have taken care of the link-up situation which I hope will set things right.

Please all - have just a little patience. I do believe the change you see over the next few days will demonstrate, to all, my ability to utilize input to achieve the common goal we share.

Apology accepted JB. Thank you for making the adjustment. I think it is beneficial for all of us to have as much connection between us as possible to be able to pass info back and forth easily, and for people to easily move from one site to the other to absorb all of that info. I too apologize to you for blowing off as bad as I did. I blame some of it on the stress that has built up since getting involved in this fight and I will try harder to keep it in check in the future. Again, Thank You for reinstating the Truckers Forum link. Have An Awesome Day

Bandit thats SilverSurfer, JB's brother
SilverSurfer lives in Texas and does the site work on theamericandriver.com and The Forums, etc.

We all have to blow off steam every now and again. ;)

My brother and I are attempting to bring everyone together in one central point to network communications. When pertinent information is needed to get out to everyone, and we have a central network, we can effectively get that information to everyone across the country.

Let's stop relying on our media for important information, or cumbersome forms of communicating important information we all need to know. The time is now to step up and get things organized. Spread the word.

Do you have a list of the driver represenatives from each state? I think that if you do you might want to post it.

Charlie Claburn is the head organizer for New York...40,000 registered members strong.

DJ Brown is currently preparing sites for MI and NC. My brother is currently in contact with individuals regarding those two states.

Mark Kirsch if the head organizer for Pennsylavania. We're hopeful for the success of their efforts.

We have communications going with individuals with Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Maine and Virginia. We're working very hard to get all states involved. It's a start...we are making progress at organizing. Becoming active in one location for networking is, I believe, the next crucial step to truely getting organized.

I have already posted an article regarding the joining of New York and will be following up on a single article once we have solid info regarding the other states we're in contact with currently.

Safe Trails and God Bless,

Just to Clarify, PA is the location of the National Chapter, and Mark Kirsch is the Director of Truckers and Citizens United.

The American Driver is a Sole Proprietorship, owned by Mike (JB) Schaffner and administered by Fred (SilverSurfer) Schaffner. Truckers and Citizens United is a not-for-profit organization located in PA, with Mark Kirsch as its director.

I refuse to get into tit-for-tat bs. This movement is bigger than all of us, and the personal need to be the almighty in charge is not my concerns. What is my concern is the continueing efforts of all of us to effectively get something done.

Since I have, and am able to maintain, a central network for getting information out among people actually concerned about doing something...I will continue my efforts to provide and support anyone, and everyone, wanting to get involved.

I am shocked to find out today that TheAmericanDriver, as an entity, is not allowed to be involved with these efforts. Please, please - as I have stated many times - let's get organized for the better good of all American citizens. Also, mine and my brother's goals go much further than this fuel price issue. We will continue onward with those goals of affecting change within the trucking industry and bringing back the brotherhood that once existed amongst truckers.

I'm sadden by the actions of some that won't utilize resources at their disposal for the good of the whole.

Safe Trails and God Bless,
Frederick (SilverSurfer) Schaffner

everything bush said next day in his press conf. he mentioned all we said to sen sessions
maine people met with 3 diff. reps too
we actually went there to rally outside and we got rained out but we stood tall and we got inside thanks to joyia and others involved we did press conf. and met with reps personally

by the way the way truckers and citizens got started was myself hanging up flyers for a meeting and we got some drivers there the nextr meeting was bigger and that is when i met jb and he offered his web site

theamericandriver website was just donated for our cause now we have our own website under construction but it is up and riunning we need to get a web designer i guess to finish it so bear with us the new site is www.truckersandcitizensunited.net this is the national chapter and also the pa chapter

Well atleast some of us know the truth about what TRULY happened and thats all I have to say about that. However I do not think things should be posted without the actual truth being told and this folks is how rumors get started. I am sorry that everyone has to deal with the drama while others are actually trying to do something and unite together. However this is still where I draw the line and stand up for what I truly believe in and that will be to stand beside theamericandriver.com. Thank you all before we get in trouble for posting where it does not belong.
