I am glad that you son has had a good experience with swift,Like you said he has a positive attitude and that will take a person along way in this industry.I myself was a trainer and all I wanted was to get the best out of my trainees if they failed then I have failed them as a trainer,everyone learns differently,so it was my job to explain things in a way that made sense to them,So like you said I hope he gets a good trainer and is successful and achieves his dreams in becoming a driver.Best wishes ,Keep us posted pls.RIG

What's the big deal?, we drove up and down Buckeye Rd. in Phx., checking out all the "tight fittin' Wrangler's on the cowgirl's,and they gave us all a green sheet.was no big deal.

I went to a truck driving school in late '98 yet the System wasn't offered. I didn't hear about or see it till '01 or '02.
Some Companies REQUIRE completion of the Smith System to stay the course in Driving. It only HELPS.
It's a online thing and generally incorporates elements of Common Sense, which might explain why some people have difficulties in passing the sections/segments or just forego attempting at all.
The people that have successfully passed the System are rarely the ones hitting Bridges, going airborne, falling asleep at the wheel, etc.

I must have 10 smith system certificates back in the LATE 70's they had it in driver training too

thank you very much,"COMMON SENSE', and not the smith stuff,is what will keep U runnin', the smith thing?, must be another way swift gets money?,somebody got to be payin' them?, Anybody know a "HONEST" outfit to work for?

I agree,common since is the way to go.I did the smith system a few times and i'd rather do it my way,LOL.

They require 240 hours of driving time and 40 backs. About 5 or 6 weeks. I am currently out with my mentor in a 2011 International ProStar

Swift currently has International ProStars, Freightliner Columbias, Volvo 670s and some Kenworths. Chances are you would wind up with a Volvo. About a 97% chance.

Most carriers offer tuition reimbursement,if not they all do.But you left a few things out.Like you have to be there a certain amt of time before getting your reimbursement and you don't get paid in one lump sum.So with Swift how long do you have to be there before your start receiving your reimbursement????????????And how long is it before you get the full reimbursement.Is it like a yr ???????????Many drivers go to these companies not knowing the real deal till they are hook or they just fail to tell the drivers everything.You drivers need to ask alot of questions before starting a company.Recruiters don't willingly give out much info otherwise they won't get any drivers and meet their quota.

Thanks for the information... Seems to me like you are enjoying your training there.... I will not be attending their driving school as I am going to spend the Money here at a local driving school.... Its expensive but I think the best way to go. Then companies can't grab ya by the ... Well... You know. Be safe out there and keep me updated with how things are going....
