Sleep Apnea Test - I think I am going to do it

I think I got the mask size wrong. Got a different one coming that will be at the house on Monday. Different type of seal as well. Other than that, just slowly getting adjusted to wearing it.
Got the larger size, and realized really quickly that the one I already had was the right size. I've gotten mofe used to it, and sleeping a little better all the time. It still bugs me because I am not a back sleeper (creates lots of back pain after a couple hours), so rolling to my side often creates it's own set of issues, mainly with the sealing of the mask.

I am waiting on a nasal mask to be shipped next. If I have issues with that one in terms of sleeping on my side, I will have to figure out a way to elevate my legs so I can remain asleep when laying on my back. Getting older sucks! LOL.

I've tested out one of the zero gravity beds. It was a year or so ago, and we decided that next time we purchased a new bed we would get one. Pointless to do it immediately since I am rarely at home to sleep in it. In the mean time, I am going to start pursuing solutions that will hopefully provide a similar effect in the truck.

Getting a physical next week. Called NASTC and the doctor they work with provided me with a letter of compliance to take with me. Hopefully, that will make the physical go along smoothly.

I have always used a full mask and I never have any trouble sleeping on my side. Are you keeping it strapped tight enough?

thats where my issue is. I was told it should be snug, but not overly tight. In other words, not right enough that it leaves lines on your face.

In order for it to pass the fit test on the machine, it has to be tight enough that it leaves lines on my face.

I think from there the only time it will leak is when I’m pretty restless.

While I have the opportunity to test masks without paying for them, I’m giving the nasal a try.

I am a very light sleeper, so even the slightest leak is the mask is currently waking me up. I’m also going to some pretty high pressures some nights due to the severity of the apnea.

I tried the nasal one it just felt weird but maybe I didn’t give it enough time to get used to it.

Which one?

I'm trying the one that is like the full mask, only covers the nose. There is another one that actually puts the tubes into your nose which I have no intention of trying.

They actually make another one that just sits below your nose and pushes air, but it is for light cases so not an option for me.

Got my compliance letter, Med Express is open on the weekends, so I went to get my physical. Felt great.

Sit me down for my blood pressure test, and it is something like 165/105. Tested it again, still the same. Waited 30 minutes, laid down in the room with the lights off, still the same. So, they are letting me go back in the morning one more time to see what the reading is. If still high, I'm getting a 90 day card and having to go find a doctor to get blood pressure checked out.

Just a couple months ago, had blood pressure checked during a complete physical before changing our life insurance and it was around 115/75.

Start sleeping better and blood pressure goes up, LOL.

Same happened to me 2 years ago. They would only give me a 90 day Cert.

MN is right. Deep breathe only 1 time every 15 seconds or 4 times an hour. It will drop measurably.

That was the first thing I did. Didn’t work.

sit and relax 1-3 minutes before letting them take you blood pressure, sit upright feet flat on the floor and practice relaxation breathing.

crossing you legs, even at the ankles will screw up blood pressure. Common for people to do in waiting rooms.

Not this time.

Tester at home even before going back this morning and it was high.

Got a 90 day card this morning, wife got me an appointment with the kids doctor (since I didn’t have one), checked in at 1030 for my 1045 appointment, and out before 1130 with a prescription.

Just enough time to get to the truck and make it to my 1330 unload appointment by 1300.
