My starter bike was a 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Seca. Lot of bike for a beginner, but I learned respect for the throttle.

I packed around on a lot of different makes and models, mostly HD, but have only owned that Yamaya, a '49 Panhead and that Vic. 2013 Vegas 8-Ball.

My dad still has two S-90's in one of his barns. They haven't run since before I was born though. One of them is just a parts bike.

Alot of gold in that barn....Very cool!!!!!
There's someone riding an S-90 in the very beginning of Independence Day.

My dad said that back in the 70's he used to get that thing up to 100 mph by tailgating the trucks so they're breaking the wind. The trucks would accelerate slow enough for him to keep up, LOL.

That open cradle frame design is called monocoque. I always laugh when I hear that word.

I started on an 1980 GS1100E. The Wing I bought last year is the first 'slow' bike I've had! This is the one I miss the most:

Hey, I know! We should start a thread where we argue over our preferences for sport bikes vs. cruisers, and then the age-old Harley vs. everything else.

Oh wait,... we already did that once a couple years ago.

I had an '83 Honda Shadow 750 when I was 18. Whenever I had a passenger, I couldn't take corners fast or the pegs would scrape & sometimes hit hard enough the rear tire would skip a little bit & wobble the bike pretty bad.

I had to give this fat chick Candy a ride home once. She wasn't THAT fat, .. just chubby but still too fat for me because I was picky. (Still am, LOL)

Her dumb ass wouldn't lean with the bike. She'd keep her upper body upright, so I'd have to lean the bike over even further to compensate, and pretty much the only thing I could do was either go REALLY slow on corners (like as slow as you'd go if you were riding in snow or on rainbow-colored pavement during rain) or slide my ass off the seat & move my body weight inward so the bike doesn't have to lean as far. That would scare her & she'd start grabbing onto me tighter & making it hard for me to move inward.

At one point the pegs hit the ground & the rear tire skipped & she started screaming. I couldn't wait to get her off that bike.

But the next time I saw her, she was all excited & wanting to go for a ride on the "Harley" again. :coocoo:

(Yeah she'd been told like 5 times it's a freakin' Honda & it said Honda on the engine case...)

If the idiot ridding it would learn to lean into the corners, he'd still have a bagger.
Different motorcycles designed for different purposes.

It's a sport-bike enthusiast trying to "prove" a bagger can't corner like a sport bike.

Well, DUH! It's a cruiser, stupid. Ride it like a cruiser.

....I certainly would not want to take a sport bike for a long ride. It's not designed for that.

When I was by myself on my 750 I could corner with the best of 'em & it was a cruiser.
