Quick air cleaner question??

Just purchased a 1996 Peterbilt 379 and I was just wondering how to get the air filter out of the air cleaner box. I took out the bolt and tried to push it down throught the bottom but its not budging. Is it just siezed up or is there a different way its supposed to be done?

If is a extrernal Air Cleaner there will be Bolts around the top. Unbolt and pull it upward. When the Air Cleaner is out look and see if any dirt is in the bottom of the canister.

It is external but there are no bolts around the top. Just one big bolt that goes from the bottom to the top?

Can you show a pic? There maybe a band at the bottom, Just losen it. Then it should drop down from the bottom.

Hope this helps.. Looks like a long bolt runs up through the bottom.

So then it is just siezed up in there and doesnt want to drop out of it

If there is a bolt on the bottom losen it. The bottom pan may have a gasket, I would just twist it downward.
When you put it back on put a little vasiline on the gasket, This will help on removal next time.

Thanks I think I can get it. I just wanted to check the filters and make sure they didnt need replaced

I have dual external filters. I change them once a year.
