Questions about new driver

I am currently considering a career change. I have been a police officer for the past 25 years, am 47 years old in pretty good shape. Being a police officer today has just gotten pretty miserable, but that is a whole story to itself.

I dont drink or do any drugs and have no tickets at all on my drivers history and have never been arrested.

I am in the metro Atlanta area and if I do this will attend a local private CDL school. I dont like the idea of being locked into a job for up to to years for a company school.

Home time will be very important in my decision of what company I apply to. I would like weekly or daily home time. I was looking at trying to get a dedicated route or intermodal as a company driver.

Can anyone recommend companies that have those opportunities to new drivers, or suggest a company that may be a good fit with that type of home time.

I've seen Atlanta job postings for Schneider that allow for new drivers for dedicated routes. Didnt know if this company would be worth looking into.

I know this may be a pipe dream, but I'm reaching out to see if any of yall can give me some recommendations.

Thanks,
Eddie

TMC will get you home every weekend if you choose. They also have dedicated routes in the south east. On top of that, they are an employer who likes to recruit former Military and Law enforcement. We have standards and we maintain them. It’s also flatbed work so it will keep you fairly active throughout your week. Great benefits, and my first year driving I cleared 60k. All trucks are late model Peterbilt 579 and they maintain the equipment well.

I won’t knock anyone else but have heard horror stories about CR England and CRST so I’d recommend staying away from them.

If you have any questions you can post em here or feel free to PM me. I am NOT a recruiter I have driven for this company for 2.5 years. What they tell you is exactly how it will be.
