I went to work for this company (Oakley Transport about six months ago as a company driver making .37 a mile. They pay so much money for orintation ( I cant remember how much ), and pay $2,000 every six months after that not counting per mileage ( IN CONTRACT ) I stay out anywhere between three weeks to three months at a time cause we need the money to pay our bills.I have a wife and family at home and my wife can't work due to her health.
My first months check was around $700.- $900. take home now I cant get anywhere close to that cause I resently found out that they don't pay for the miles that you are dispatched, did not get the orintation pay, not going to get the $2,000, every six months,if you run locally it suppose to be a flat rate per run now thats going to be cut in half and all other runs will be cut too.
I have never worked for a company that I had to stay out so long away from my family and can't even pay my bills not alone put food on the table. :bonk:

What's your location and how much experience do you have ? Quality Carriers was doing some hiring . They only accept online applications . Schneider got a new contract with Growmark and is looking for tanker drivers . The tanker division of Schneider is pretty good .

Oakley Transport Update

I left this company recently after 5 months. Yes, all driver retention bonuses are cancelled. Detention pay is cancelled. Drivers are leaving like flies from DDT spray. The letters went out about 2 weeks ago to drivers explaining the cuts in Florida based driver pay (flat rates) and OTR changes. Interesting enough, this did not stop the purchase of new SUV's (Cadillac Escalades) and fancy 4 door $50k pickups for the top dogs. The grass died out front from lack of water, so they spent $10k in new landscaping. Every driver I met on the road without exception said they were not making money and there is too much sitting going on. Go figure, the guy in charge of Operations is the guy who train wrecked Carroll-Fullmer Trucking.
Drivers who think they are getting a good coast to coast run find themselves dropping that trailer midway in the trip and swapping another tanker for a short finish, then you sit. RUN! Don't walk away. They don't like for you to go home either.

Have worked for Oakley for over 3 years. Working on an exit now. I hate changing, have tried to be loyal, gave em 3 years ups & downs. The downs won. Sad, because the people are mostly nice folk. Oakley reeled me in as a family friendly, driver oriented company. W/in first 2 months they pulled back several of benefits that were included in my job offer. Home time has always ben hard to get. The family friendly facade soon fell away. I've been on the road more with Oakley than last company & I rolled over to Oakley under the auspices I'd get home more often. I'm not a lone wolf so that's been a big negative. I told several times that I wanted to run regional, get home more often, they even had me waiting on a dedicated run they said was opening up, told me I was on a list, had me enthused & on a string for couple of months, then found out that run never really was set up. It didn't exist. My wife was not happy. Communication is terrible. Never had a company I couldn't get a hold of, even in the middle of the day. Oakley has invested bigly in overly surveilled sensor riddled Volvo trucks. Seems what they really want are driverless trucks. Every nitpicking thing has a sensor & their Safety Dept are like kids at Xmas with a new toy. e.g. You will get assessed if u go over company speed limit by 1mph. if someone pulls out in front of you in city traffic, you will get a call asking to explain yourself. It's ridiculous. You feel constantly under the microscope at Oakley. It's really not worth it. There are more reasonable companies to work for. In cab camera is really the last straw for me. It has all just gotten too restrictive, always under surveillance, & feel like I'm just a statistic, data on someone's computer screen. They want machines, not drivers. Don't recommend.

Everyone in my trucking school was on the government dole and the government paid for their schooling. I was the only one that paid my own way.
All of these students were million mile drivers, they just didn't have a licence:rolleyes-80:. I would have have to leave the room at break time because the bullshit got pretty deep!
They were all buying a truck when they got their licence. Wait, What?:confused-96: On the dole and you got the money to buy a new truck:stare1:
I am not even sure if half of them passed, but they did get the truck driver bullshit part down pat!

I don’t know about you, but I’m only driving a truck because I just wasn’t getting a sense of fulfillment at my last job as the chief masseuse for one of the lingerie football teams. Sure, I miss the naked hot-tub parties and the near 7-figure salary, but I feel so much more purpose in my life now, tarping loads of rusted steel, stored outside for weeks, delivering it to a place that already has 5 acres of the same thing I just hauled in.....
