My proposal for a new regulation

Should be at least 12 hour reset for local drivers. Otr drivers can stay at 10 because they dont need to commute. Adding commute times a 12 hour reset for local drivers is equivalent to 10 hours for local. Apparently the rulers in the trucking industry and government think truck drivers dont need 8 hours of sleep. We must be wired differently from the rest of humanity requiring less.

You know if the rule was 24 hours on duty and 0 hours off duty most of these companies would work you to death.

My commute is 10 minutes so I disagree. 10 is enough as a minimum. Slipseating can royally screw your schedule and ability to make money and 12 hrs off minimum would make it worse.

Not my fault other people don't live as close or can't get their shit done in 12.

10 min both ways 9 hr 40, 1 hr to cook and eat dinner 8 hr 40 1 hour to wind down 7 hr 40 30 min shower and brush teeth 7 hr 10 20 mins to fall asleep 6 hr 50.

This is inhumane. They expect us to go straight to sleep like robots.

It's minimum not maximum.
Companies have proven to be anti-worker. More often than not if they are given a min to suck more productivity out of the human beings inside their trucks they will take advantage...

Again. Theyll work you to death if the fed Gov legalized it.

Yeah I know. But we slipseat in assigned trucks. If my slipseater is back late, I'm waiting for it. If I put in my normal 12 then I'm late. If we both have to take a minimum of 12 off every time, either one day will only be an hour long to get back to normal or well never be at our assigned start times again. I'll find myself starting at 11 am instead of 10 pm because of the constant pushbacks.

10 hours off gives us a shot at having a long day and still getting sorted out for a normal start time shortly without losing hundreds of dollars a week in pay.

No, 10 off is fine. Keeping our start times normal gives us the consistency that our bodies need more than anything, and we don't get shoved into our weekends off.

Just need to stand up for yourself.

No.

Companies need to submit to the iron fist of government regulations. Today big business colludes with Washington to implement regulations that harm working Americans. This is why most people view regulations in a negative light. But they can be good if they're created with the wellbeing of normal Americans in the policymakers minds.

HOS violations; the number one reason for the ELD mandate.

Not hard to see why. I suppose there will never be a happy medial set of HOS rules that will please everyone.

Lets work with 10 for a while yet. 12 seems a bit much imo.

I was reading in Europe their truckers work 9 hours or so. Let's just do that. Also obviously were working less so force companies to pay more so our lifestyles stay the same.

Extreme regulations that benefit the workers to create healthy work environments.
