My Drivers Seat Stinks

I keep a lot of those little cans of Beanie Weenies in my truck for occasions when I am stuck someplace with no food available.

The problem with beans is that they cause me to have gas. <snicker>

I have noticed another problem.

My driver's seat smells like a fart. The cushioning has absorbed my farts and will not let them go. It smells like someone **** on my seat and I can't get the smell out.

When I am bouncing up and down on the seat on a rough road, the smell seems to swish into the air and it really is horrible then.

How do I get the farts out of my seat? Should I just ask for a new truck? A new seat?

Am I the only one in the industry with a seat I can't get fart smells out of?

What good will geting a new trk or seat do,you'll just fart that one up.My advice to you is lay off the beenie weenies,LOL

Sprinkle baking soda on it and let it sit for a few days then vacuum it up.

Obviously Terrylamar has had the same issue. He gave me a pointer to help me with the issue. But I don't know if I want to sit in baking soda for a few days. Those farts are deep into the cushion.

drench it in ferbreeze. seats do smell after a while especially for the guys who just drive for hours on end without stopping. The first truck I drove View attachment 5364

had a sponge mattress in the bunk and no a/c. The thing had a million plus on it when I got into it and we did a lot of southern runs. If odor could tell a story, that cab could write a masterpiece.

No, don't jump to conclusions, I do not have a fart smelling seat problem. You are on your own on this one!

LOL Never heard of a seat smelling from farting.Get some of that interior cleaner and also soap and water.Do that the next time you get home.Baking soda might be a quick fix but if the smell is embedded in the seat,doubt any thing will work but a good cleaning.

Actually the baking soda suggestion is serious and valid. Didn't you ever keep an opened box of baking soda in the fridge to absorb odors? It really works.

But I really doubt that hydrogen sulfide gas would build up in the seat fabric and cushions and continue to linger. Really, I think Boone is on the right track, that copious amounts of FeBreeze would be beneficial. It is more likely that the oils from your body and perspiration are what is causing the odors.

I use these: View attachment 14961 , followed by a wipedown with a slightly damp cloth. I also use FeBreeze on the carpet and fabric to keep the cab smelling fresh.

The reason I bought my Buick was because in 2005 I was bringing my cat home from getting neutered and it was half conscious and lost it's bladder on the passenger seat of my Ranger.

Febreeze, baking soda, special stuff from the pet store specifically designed for getting rid of cat urine smell, .. none of that worked. I couldn't drive the truck. So I bought my Buick.

I left the Ranger sitting in the barn all winter with the windows down and wire mesh over the windows to keep the birds out. It didn't work. The next summer, I un-bolted the seat from the cab and left it sitting in the sun for 2 weeks. That's the only thing that did it. I was about to go to the junkyard and find another seat for it when I noticed the sun got rid of the smell. I put the seat back in the truck and now the factory "new car" smell came back. And that's pretty odd because the truck is an '89.

if the seat cushion comes off easily he could just swap it out with another driver that he doesnt like much......just dont get caught. lol.
