Mobile Service for Owner Ops

An idea. I'm more focused on the legality tid bits I gotta get, that way everyone is safe in a shop, on a mobile repair, etc.

We had a truck get a fresh in-frame. It blew a rod out the block at 157 miles. You want to be in business. Have you got the insurance or resources to replace that $40,000 fuckup? You can do everything correctly and still have that nightmare occur. Are you ready for it? Or am I going to put my blind Faith into an operation that only appears professional because they have flashy service trucks?

There's benefits to going to a franchised shop. Can you even begin to offer that security?

Have you even considered the hazardous waste producer licenses from your local state or city government? Did you even know there was such a thing? Or do I have to worry that all someone saw was my truck with the company name on the side of it and reported it to the local authorities for 11 gallons of oil dumped in a gutter.

Almost had it figured out. I dont use crap-on software. Mines nicer. I understand attitudes can have a negative business impact. Its just unfortunate we had this issue this evening. I shouldn't have gotten upset. I got paranoid and felt put down. I didn't want to get my ideas taken and I have a lot riding on this eventually coming to fruition. Just took my frustration out on yall. I apologize.

And I'm bringing a wide range of certifications...
Certificates means jack squat to me. Every one of the "technicians" that did an alignment on my truck was certified by the dealer, the manufacturer of the alignment rack and ASE.

It cost me over $10,000 trusting those "certificate"

I got the insurance and bonding. I also already found the business that will be delivering and removing hazardous materials. I have an attorney handling the city, state and federal requirements. I don't deal in blind faith, I put blind faith into too many things. I'm waiting to hear back on a lot of this stuff. Which is why it is not all physically happening currently.

That blows. I've probably sent half a dozen trucks up to the OC for alignments and each of my own three so at least twice each.

I need it right otherwise I'm miserable. I refuse to fight the wheel like some of these guys do.

There are still things I will not do. I still have promises to keep to other clients. I don't do inframes nor big jobs like rebuilding trannies for one main reason; I'm one guy (I need to keep my quality promise to everyone).

I wouldn't do them either but my reason would be less noble.

I just wouldn't wanna.

You do an oil change. Simple enough. No big deal. You change a guys coolant Line.

Forget to tighten a hose clamp, it blows a line and dumps 15 gallons of coolant 1000 Miles down the road.

You going to be networked enough to get me those 15 gallons on the road and getting back up and running? Or do I have to foot the bill for another $1000 to get another service truck to help me out?

You going to charge me $250 for a belt tensioner? Or have the insight enough to actually have a $27 bearing and take 15 minutes while I do a 30-minute break replacing my belt tensioner?

Woah woah woah. You would be compensated by getting your money back for the first fuck up and everything would to repaired and replaced as it should be

The chances of that happening are extremely low. I don't want to lose clients, money and create a bad name.

Buddy of mine got into being an o/o from a company ride. His first truck about ruined him because of emissions issues. Second truck wasn't much better.

Another member from here became an o/o, emissions about ruined him too.

How deep down that rabbit hole are you willing to go before you bail?

I've been commissioned by my family member (drives Pete 579 w/mx-13) to completely tear it down, and rebuild it better.

Alongside that, I will also have a dpf cleaner (NOT W/ BAKER yet).

I'm willing to go deep if and when my idea becomes reality

You aren't offering anything that isn't already offered to us.

Time will determine your reputation. Not blowing your cool. @Mike has some input on that. Especially considering some of the recent issues he's had.

Just your responses here tonight. The feeling of having to create two threads for the same topic? Why? Stroking your ego? Paranoia won't cut it here.

Every morning, I get up and I look at any one of a thousand trucks every day. "What am I providing that they can't?". "What sets me apart?"

That's what gets my phone ringing. Sending me emails asking for service.

Otherwise, you are just another ant in line in the colony.
