I take gabapentin for peripheral neuropathy and have a letter from my Neurologist. Will this be enough to clear me on my medical exam or is there something else I should do. Thank you for your time.

It’s not an automatic disqualification for the reason you are taking it, but it’s going to be up to the doctor doing the physical.

My guess it is going to come down to how the doctor interprets the letter. Motor skills are rather important in this field. DOT doctor is going to have to be confident that this is clearly under control.

Peripheral neuropathy is more a loss of feeling, pain or coldness in the extremities is my understanding.

gabapentin is listed as an anti-seizure drug so this is definitely one of those instances you need to work very closely with the dot qualifying examiner.

My wife is taking it for hot flashes and got it okayed for her med. So it can be worked out.
