Mackinaw bridge..

Curious who all had taken a truck across the mackinaw bridge?

How about an oversized load?

More times than I can remember. This was taken walking across the top of the toll booths to the offices to hand over the bosses credit card, then wait to be escorted across southbound.

Depending on routing and time frame you may want to consider the Ludington Ferry. It is less susceptible to wind shutdowns. IMG_0312.JPG

Ferry shuts down on Sunday for the winter and all trips are booked full till then.

Do they charge extra for the OD stuff?
The ferry? Big time.

The bridge, also yes.

I'm sure the fees have only gone up since that picture so maybe call the bridge ahead.

Also...if you're going to pull OD in the U.P. MAKE DAMN SURE you obey whatever ridiculous speed limit is listed in the provisions section of your permit. They're serious about that statewide, but more in the U.P. since it's a frigging police state up there.

Blades and the 16 wide we did were 35 mph. I haven't yawned so much since my wedding.

What's great about the grated deck is that even in great wind it holds the vehicles on. Mostly. People who drive Smart Cars just aren't that great at being smart and will be greatly surprised when they get blown off and fall the great distance into the Mackinac Strait despite the grate.
That was just gr8

Grates sound great.

Grated grate over the fall, which is the greatest grate of all?
