GREENSBORO, N.C. — Mack Trucks Inc. said Friday it will boost production at its Macungie, Pa., truck plant this August. The company will hire approximately 300 people to support the increase, attributed primarily to increased demand for the Mack Pinnacle model highway trucks.
Because of recent recalls of employees laid off during the truck industry’s downturn, all of the additional personnel will be new hires, Mack noted.
“Customers are extremely pleased with the Pinnacle model and our MP series engines, in terms of both performance and fuel economy,” said Kevin Flaherty, Mack senior vice president, U.S. and Canada. “With recently announced enhancements to our vehicle aerodynamics and engine offerings, we expect the enthusiasm to continue.”
The production increase will include the addition of a second shift. The company plans to have the new hires in place early in August.
