Let's pArtY!!!

I stated I came down bozeman pass. That would be Montana.

It did not fail because of parts failing. It failed because of poor workmanship from a shop that recently replaced a cracked exhaust manifold.

When was the last time you went under your air filter and grabbed all your exhaust fittings. Crawled under your cab and grabbed all the clamps.

Or stuck your hand behind the exhaust manifold to check for exhaust.
Couple'a weeks ago, I took mine to Cummins for low oil pressure readings shutting the truck down. I'd turn the key into the On position and the guage would turn all the way past 100 to where the needle wouldn't go any further and just stay there until I cranked it over. Then, it would sit for a few more seconds begore dropping to 5. A few seconds there and it'd level off at a runable pressure. They replaced the EGR cooler, gave it an oil change and a new crankcase filter. Two weeks later, the guage was still doing that. I called Cummins to see if it was supposed to do that. They said don't worry until the pressure goes below 10 and stays there. Well, it did, and left me stranded until I called out a mobile repair truck. The oil sensor had failed.

Here's what irritated me about it: They were less than two inches from the sensor when they replaced the filter on the driver side. The mobile guy said, just looking at the sensor, he could plainly see the sensor had been going or gone for at least a few months because of the oil caked on the outside of it and what was coming from inside it.

It was a case of looking at the computer instead of looking at the engine. The sensor could have been replaced while Cummins had it and I would not have had to call a rescue repair.

I used to work at a boat dealer and the mechanics were really good friends of mine.

One time I was having a conversation with one about our motorcycles. He had a Harley that was worth around 36k, and i had a crappy R6 worth 2500 after i rebuilded the engine.
I asked if he did his own work on the bike, and he said that he only ride it, because he was paying a shop for their professionalism the same as the boats he worked on.
Now it seems this professionalism got lost some where around the way to trucks.

The last time i took anything to the shop was my car, it was a Nissan Altima. Iy had a cide for the Catalytic converter and it was under warranty.
Well they took two day to do it.
And whem they finish the called my saying that my engine mount was bad and a boot that keeps the grease for the wheel bearing was leaking. It was all bs tryingto charge me 600 bucks, i ignored them and change the engine mounts myself 50k miles later.
What did I get out of the visit to the dealer? Well they lost about 90% of the screws that hold the plastic under the engine bay:explode:

Also @Injun a low oil pressure reading would make me go crazy, I'm glad it got fixed. I wish we could pay for professionalism for trucks too.

Like @wogelsby said there is not a lot of info out there.
Everyday I do research about our engines and very little reaches the internet.

Most computerized stuff is locked out by manufacturers. Heavy trucks being the worst I have had to deal with.

I've been considering getting this software but would like to see it in person before I paid $1000 for it.

When I was turning wrenches for the garbage company, they got a laptop with Mack's proprietary software on it. I could do everything to those trucks, except pull it out of a 4th stage Regen when the motor would derate. Only the dealership could do that

*rant of the day*

Everything i want to do right now is kick some one's behind's.

Seriously today has just gone from bad to i want to drive of a bridge.

Im usually a very calm person and i like to respect people so other people respect me. When some one brakes that its one of the few things that can get me heat up.

Well just right now as i was going to load i asked the guy for 24.25 tons, he said ok.

And started taking his time, i dont mind that.

Now if you ever worked on a end dump or a belly dump and carrying superflex/crush rocks, asphalt and that sort of stuff you would know 24.25 is average load size, that most i seen a truck carry is 26 tons.

So after 15 mins of standing there i see the loader drop a bucket and i was like thats got to be the second one. I said "thank you" and drove off.

Well i was wrong it was the first one. While two trucks got loaded in front of me, i had to back up. This time he loaded the last bucket, and started talking shit of how much in a rush i was. When i get to the scale i was over weight by 4.50 tons.

Now i know he did this on purpose because no truck carries 29 tons.

He knew i had to go back down to the pit dump and reload.

I wanted to go down and dump it right in the middle of the way, hell i wanted to dump on top of the scale and leave.

But i didnt i jist camed myself down, dumped were ever i felr like and left. Im done for today, before i do something stupid.

Peace out.

The last week has been eventfull.
Did the main and rod bearing, and oil valves cuz of low pressure truck is running like champ.

Ill upload pics and stats later when im not in my procrastination state

When I was dump trucking around Orlando I was on a site cleanup job once. My Dad's truck was originally a coal truck from PA. Coal in a dump is very light so they have bigger boxes. So they don't "look" as full as say, a lower sided 16 foot box.

Well, I was constantly getting overloaded as a result. I'd explain this to loader operators (a notorious rivalry most times) and some would listen, some wouldn't.

So one day I was loading this rip rap (busted up concrete, dirt, glass bottles, bodies and other demo trash) and the guy is FILLING the box. Asked him twice to lighten up by one bucket. Nope.

Okay bitch.

I filled out an extra ticket that day, and turned it in, and the company we were leased to billed for an extra load that never existed.

Three months later I'm on a similar job with the same contractor. At the end of the job the boss and the loader operator are talking and joking and talking smack about the last job they'd seen that truck on (it stood out a bit...wow that's a theme with me, ain't it....) and the loader operator poofed out his chest and said "Yup, ahh's loading the shit outta 'em."

I stared directly at him and smiled until he fell silent. Eventually he looked at me and said, "What?"

I looked at his boss and said, "I asked him twice to lighten up by one bucket." Then I explained about the coal box. Then I asked him if he really knew how many loads he'd been billed for on that job, because there MAY have been one extra. Maybe.

Then I walked to the truck and left.

A THIRD time I worked with this contractor, he had a different loader operator, and he and I had a nice talk about DOT and how they liked to yank beat up old Mack dump trucks and such.

Well havent been here for a while, updates on my trucking life.
Second truck just took a crap on me this morning.
So now im waiting for a guy to give me the keys to the new truck im gettng.

This time im getting a cat c15, its a twin turbo but still a cat.

Lol, buying.

Well i managed to put my hands on a 2005 Columbia with a C15 acert it has 827000 miles on it so it should last a little.
And i got a regular 10 for transmission not a super crap.:)

Back to dumps. I never drove dumps. I pulled a walking floor trailer. I had mulch on there. I was told to dump it in the yard. That is what I did, Spread it across the yard. The yard supervisor was pissed! I really don't care, I don't like you MR. Supervisor and I really hate this fucking job!

The point is, Never piss off a driver with the ability to self unload their truck.

We used to pull a pallet load of minerals down to Purina in Poinciana. Night shift guy was always a lazy little twerp.

I ended up grabbing them on a charcoal live floor my buddy bought.

Probably still banned from there;)

Dump trucks and weight or people not tellin while telling you what to do is a big problem. More than once i dumped where ever i feel like and leave.
I have to haul ass cuz it would be embarrassing if i were to open my gates and get stuck. Because then ill have to ask the guy i was piss off to push me, and that just ruins the mood. Lol
