Just got over pneumonia

Got home on Monday and couldn't wait to go to bed. Couldn't breath that well and was really hard to make myself cough that produced anything. Had a fever. Would walk 20 feet and out of breath. Went to emergency room Wed morning around 2am. My ex girlfriend works there. I don't remember what type she said I had but there are 3 versions I think. I had the lowest one.

Gave me a prescription for some type of penicillin. I asked if I could beat it without taking it and they said yes but need to rest. HA! You have no choice. Thursday was the worst day of all. Woke up Friday and felt great, no coughing and made it maybe 10 hours before I started feeling tired. It was like the storm before the calm.

I was told a long long time ago to not take penicillin unless you absolutely need it. You become immune to it and want to save it for when your a lot older and really need it. I had an abscessed tooth maybe 10 years ago and in a lot of pain. Had to take penicillin and it was maybe after the first pill all the pain went away in like an hour. Still had to take all of them though.

I'm normally in bed around 11am. Sometimes I go back to bed later but when I'm working I start driving around 1am. A lot better now. Still coughing up stuff but breaks up easy.
 
I've had pneumonia several times over the years; including double one winter. Thanks to the "wonderful" Canadian Health System I had to keep right on working through it.

Went through a helluva lot of Buckley's Mixture and Fisherman's Friend (what the inshore fishermen use in the winter).
 
The best thing ever I've tried when my lungs are congested is that hot sauce from a Chinese restaurant. Not that bright red crap. The dark stuff made with chili peppers in peanut oil. I would have done it but I'll pay for it in the end for days and days. Not fun!
 
Whew!!! Pneumonia is scary. We had 3 people last week with it. And yes, antibiotics will always be given because we need to knock it out fast. Glad you're better and talk to your doc about the pneumonia vaccine to prevent the next one.

Not too serious. I guess there's 3 types and I had the least. My stomach hurts from making myself cough so much. I can understand why older people don't recover not being able to clear their lungs.
